12 oz. bottle from dbsdelight- thanks again, Dan! Dan thought this was a barley wine, so he kept some around for a long time and admitted it was a mistake. But I’ll try it anyway. Pours a cloudy amber color with a small beige head that fades fast. Aroma of caramel malts, tea leaves, cardboardy oxidation, tobacco, earth, and honey. Flavor of overripe fruits, caramel malts, cardboard, earth, tea, and minerals. Finishes dry. Light-bodied, with a leafy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. bottle shared by phaleslu- thanks a ton peter- way to age this shit to perfection!%!@# aroma of sweet, oxidized, sherry bread. taste of doughy sweet watery oxidized caramel. way better than expected, given the age on this beer. smooth, creamy, sherry oxidation, atop a bready doughy whatever. nice enough. bonus points for holding up reasonably well over the yizearz. I had 3 bottles of this, gave one away and drank one shortly after I got it. Sadly I didn’t rate it and so all this time I’ve had this sittling in the cellar. Aroma is caramel and toffee blend. Pours a nice amber color. Flavor is still good, nice malty sweet caramel, hops are subdued but still there. Palate is nicely still rich. Overall I can’t complain, my memory is that I loved this when I first had it and I still can’t complain.

12 oz bottle shared by RLB. Pours a amber clear with a nice head. Toasty caramel aroma with toffee, and a slight papery stale oxidation with lame oxidized old fruity esters. Flavor is more toffee and caramel, crystal malts with a dryign leather earthiness, more oxidation and stale wet papery malts- grainy cracker like finish. 12 oz. bottle courtesy of DrnkMcDermott. This brew pours a murky dark copper hue with an offwhite moderate head that begins to dissipate. Aromas are pretty muted malty sweetness dominates. Taste is pretty mellow light citrus up front moving to a respectable carmel and biscuity malt backbone. Depleted. Smooth and sessionable but lacking any "oomph". The beer is, what else, amber in color. The aroma is of malty toffee, with earthy something, maybe hops or yeast. I just wish it wasn’t as faint.
The taste is malty. The hops are there somewhere. Now I am pretty sure the hops are providing this recurring theme of earthiness.
The mouthfeel is definitely thicker than the average amber ale. Since I like this beer, it is not too thick. If this were always available, I would always have it in my fridge.
