(draft @ MacGregor’s - Henrietta, NY) Clear gold pour with a thin white head. Very lightly smoked aroma, more dry hops than any sort of smoked malt. Flavor is much the same. Very lightly smoked malt flavor with a dry hop and grassy middle. Some mild smoke in the finish and aftertaste. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - OCT 20, 2013
Pour on tap, hazy orange-yellow pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of smoke, slight caramel, toffee, hints of grass, pine and slight earth tones in there, some slight bacon like note from the smoke. Taste is a mix of bacon, campfire smoke, hints of grass, orange and cracker, slight spice, caramel, finishing smoky, slightly sweet. bartlebier (4118) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - OCT 9, 2013
Tap sampler, Bell’s Eccentric Café, 31/viii/13. Very well done smokey lager, with good body, well hopped. Comes very close to Schlenkerla’s blue lager/Helles. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 8, 2013
Half a pint, on tap at The Lackman. Mostly clear yellow orange color. Thin white head. Some ropes and dots of lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of softer, lighter carbonation. Lightly sticky finish. Very nice smokey malt aroma to it, light caramel, pretty well-balanced. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Great, well-balanced smoked lager. Enough smoke to satisfy me (I like ’em smokey), with some savory taste to accompany that. On par with Aecht Schlenkerla’s marzen, from what I remember, maybe even more smooth cards04 (2879) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 6, 2013
One of the better smoked beers I’ve had. The smoke doesn’t hit you over the head...it’s just there, balanced with the hops and malts. Bell’s got this one right.

4oz pour at Churchkey’s Bells event during DC Beer Week 2013. Pours a clear caramel amber with some wispy white head. Nose is lightly smokey, woody, nuts, fall fruit, some corn. Flavor is well balanced, light smoke, brown make, caramel, bread, lightly nutty, orange. Crisp finish with a hint of smoke. Extremely well balanced. radagast83 (8340) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - AUG 16, 2013
