Draft. Poured clear dark brown with an average light brown frothy head that was mostly diminished with very good lacing. Moderate smoke toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Complex drinkable beer.

Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear amber color with a thin head that quickly fades. Aroma of big smoky notes, salty ham and caramel malts. The taste is big smoky notes with some bitter astringent qualities and pale caramel malts. Medium bodied.

GABF. Pours a clear amber appearance with an off white head. Moderately meaty smoky, light woody, caramel aroma that seemed a touch off. A little herbal, chewy woody, smoked, moderate caramel flavor. Ehhhh.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at Muddy Pig. Rich yellow pour with a frothy white head. A little yeast and smoke on the aroma. Flavors blend kinda funny, but not too bad. Decent brew.

arminjewell (9687) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - OCT 20, 2013
Pour on tap, hazy orange-yellow pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of smoke, slight caramel, toffee, hints of grass, pine and slight earth tones in there, some slight bacon like note from the smoke. Taste is a mix of bacon, campfire smoke, hints of grass, orange and cracker, slight spice, caramel, finishing smoky, slightly sweet.

DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 8, 2013
Half a pint, on tap at The Lackman. Mostly clear yellow orange color. Thin white head. Some ropes and dots of lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of softer, lighter carbonation. Lightly sticky finish. Very nice smokey malt aroma to it, light caramel, pretty well-balanced. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Great, well-balanced smoked lager. Enough smoke to satisfy me (I like ’em smokey), with some savory taste to accompany that. On par with Aecht Schlenkerla’s marzen, from what I remember, maybe even more smooth

b3shine (8940) - Indiana, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Draft to taster at Bell’s. Looks like a good lager. Smell is virtually nonexistent. Tastes pretty good; not overly Smokey. Nice on the palate too. Solid for the style.
