2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a very cloudy, dark golden yellow color with ripe banana edges and a two finger, pillowy white head that very slowly settles into a lasting ring. Very good retention with streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Slightly earthy aroma with soil-y, piney hops, zesty spice, bready yeast, citrus peel and malted wheat. Strong bread/bubblegum character along with a prominent banana presence countering the citrus zest, peppery spice and resinous hops. As it warms, the hop presence fades a bit and the wheat beer characteristics start to really stand out. The eight different yeast strands starts to dominate the nose and are complimented by lemon zest and coriander. A little heavy on the yeast/bubblegum/banana but smells pretty good.
On the lower end of medium body with really strong, tight carbonation that hurts the mouthfeel. The carbonation and a slightly creamy texture compliment the malted wheat and yeast notes but overpower the spice and sweeter citrus notes. Slightly tart with strong hints of sourdough bread, bubblegum, wheat and banana countered by peppery coriander spice and zesty lemon peel. Thereís a touch of boozy sweetness in the finish but the high ABV is very well masked. Tastes more like a strong wheat beer/hefeweizen than a wheatwine. Light and pretty easy to drink but the carbonation hurts the mouthfeel/drinkability and the flavor profile is one dimensional. I would have preferred more spice and sweet citrus character to balance out the heavy yeast notes.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours clear golden amber with a thick, though effervescent, eggshell head. Wheaty aroma has fruity underpinnings, mainly apple with snips of banana and pear, and a subtle yeasty tone. Flavor has wheat and more malt, a little less fruit and yeast, and toasty and hoppy notes. Texture has firm, smooth body if not much fizz. Wheat love indeed.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle purchased locally. This is the late 2013 edition; glad they resurrected this long-dead bottled offering. Pours a hazy gold with a huge frothy white head that settles rocky and leaves some sticky lace in the glass. Notes of apricot, citrus, bread, wheat, florals, mild spice, esters, honey, grapes, peach, and sweet malts. More complex than anticipated. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, fruity, estery mouthfeel. Unusual beer; lots going on here.

12oz bottle, bottles 9/18/13...opened 2/16/15. Slightly hazy orange-tan body lots of bubbles rising up to meet a soda-like non-head. The aroma isnít so impressive, kind of some cardboard on top of old wheat, but as it breathes it gets better. The flavor holds up fine, this is sort of unique and enjoyable. 8 different wheat malts, different wheat yeasts...wow. Really clean for the ABV, has some mild honey tones. Probably my favorite Wheat Wine Iíve had. This is unique, not like a Barleywine or a German Weizenbock either. Very cool beer experience, recommended for sure.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: hazy deep gold, minimal near white head. Aroma: huge aroma of orange, vanilla, banana, marmalade, peaches in heavy syrup, honey, cereal. Taste: sweet, decently boozy, with strong orange and vanilla over a bananas foster note, with cream of wheat, honey smacks, and apricots. Finish: a bit of yeasty spice, with lingering citrus and light candi sugar. Notes: Liked it a lot. First real exposure to the wheat wine subgroup of barleywine. Like drinking a rich, boozy orange creamsicle. Bottle dated September 2013, consumed in January 2015, so not sure how much impact the aging had. Bottle from Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida.

Wheaty ale but quite boozy. This one is truly a barley wine so donít think youíre drinking a wheat ale as you might be slightly disappointed. Good ale.
