(Bottle 645 of 1563 - May 2013) Aroma of raspberries/cherries and roasted malts, with suggestions of milk chocolate and sourness. Pours a dense black with a mostly lasting tan head and no lacing. The taste is wonderful!! Tart fruit and sourness combined with roasted malt flavors. What’s not to like! Medium body with somewhat crisp/fizzy carbonation. Mouthfeel is round with a satisfyisfying crisp finish. Whoa! This is a wonderful beer. A "not over the top" sour flavor combined with a "not over the top" roasted flavor equals an exceptionally satisfying and pleasurable experience. Amazing balance between sour and roastiness. I want more! (A tip of the hat to Sammy for a great trade…many thanks!) Sammy (12101) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 8, 2013
A very well made beer, one of the best Bellwoods has been involved in. Black with lace at the bottom. Cherry aroma. Brux and Lamb and Lactob. and pedioccus and magnum and Flemish yeast. Chocolate in finish. Carbonation understated, a plus. A Flemish without palate erasing. Worth seeking out. Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 7, 2013
On tap at brewery. jet black colour. big aroma with soured notes, some cherry and apples and a very citrus or lemon note. big beer on the palate with a long finish and a complex and ever developing flavour profile. Flavours of roast and sour candy with a tart finish but fairly balanced. Great stuff. jercraigs (10303) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 6, 2013
2013-07-28. Black body, modest foamy tan head. 3++ Aroma is moderately lactic and lightly roasty. 7+ Flavour is pleasantly sour, light roasty undertones throughout. 7++ Average bodied palate, good carbonation throughout. Tasty but I find it very difficult to find a sour stout that manages a balance between sourness and roast that suits my preferences. I expect that this will be well received but it is not enitrely to my own taste. On tap at Bellwoods, Toronto chris__hartley (443) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 6, 2013
It pours opaque mahogany (almost black); the head is beige and foamy. The aroma has notes of: red wine, ruby port, and caramel. The taste is medium sour that finishes medium dry; there are notes of: charcoal (on the finish), black-cherries, dark-fruit, and chocolate. The palate is medium-full bodied, sticky, and a long sour finish. Overall, perhaps one of the most unique, and non-novelty beers I’ve ever had - solid gold...

Milk chocolate and sour notes blend together in the aroma, quite an interesting combination. A slight roastyness. Brown/black, quite dark, with thick foamy long lasting head. Looks really nice. Tastes delicious, upfront quite tart and dry, some sweetness coming through with some more milk chocolate and sourness to finish. Hides it’s ABV very well. Given it’s roasty, chocolaty flavors, seemed a bit thin. Delicious sour stout. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 5, 2013
Deep black pour thin tan head. Bright tart apple. Cheery and raspberry acetic character. A bit of licorice and some white pepper. A touch of fruit. Really delicious. Complex and tasty. PatIrish (183) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2013
Pours pitch black with a soft tan head. Aromas of cherry, leather, plums. Moderate bitterness, with a nice tart astringent finish. shaynsawchuk (681) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 31, 2013
500 mL bottle. My bottle said 9.2%. Pours opaque black with a beige cap and lots of lacing. There is a hell of a lot going on here but it?s very well balanced. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, coffee, cocoa, heavy cream, porridge and oak. A touch of sweetness, then a big lactic sour bite, rounding into bitter, roasty malt notes. Ridiculously complex. Full bodied with medium carbonation and no noticable alcohol. Bought another bottle I will have to try very hard not to open. Wow. jredmond (8206) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 30, 2013
Draft at Torst with Clockwork and Joel. Pours a deep brownish black body with no head, thin lacing. Aroma is sour cherry, espresso, roast, and dark malt. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet dark fruits, cherries, chocolate, espresso roast, oak and malt. Very nice dark, sour ale.
