(Bottle 645 of 1563 - May 2013) Aroma of raspberries/cherries and roasted malts, with suggestions of milk chocolate and sourness. Pours a dense black with a mostly lasting tan head and no lacing. The taste is wonderful!! Tart fruit and sourness combined with roasted malt flavors. What’s not to like! Medium body with somewhat crisp/fizzy carbonation. Mouthfeel is round with a satisfyisfying crisp finish. Whoa! This is a wonderful beer. A "not over the top" sour flavor combined with a "not over the top" roasted flavor equals an exceptionally satisfying and pleasurable experience. Amazing balance between sour and roastiness. I want more! (A tip of the hat to Sammy for a great trade…many thanks!) shaynsawchuk (681) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 31, 2013
500 mL bottle. My bottle said 9.2%. Pours opaque black with a beige cap and lots of lacing. There is a hell of a lot going on here but it?s very well balanced. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, coffee, cocoa, heavy cream, porridge and oak. A touch of sweetness, then a big lactic sour bite, rounding into bitter, roasty malt notes. Ridiculously complex. Full bodied with medium carbonation and no noticable alcohol. Bought another bottle I will have to try very hard not to open. Wow. kevinsenn (2263) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 10, 2013
Bottle. Pours dark with a half-inch tan head. Roasty aroma with sour cherry/berry notes. Taste is sour cherry and roasted grains - yum. The first sour imperial stout I’ve ever had, and it makes me want more. Great stuff! shorlin (721) - St. John’s, Newfoundland, CANADA - OCT 23, 2013
Tasted a small sample at a BeerThief gathering. Brown/black in colour with a tan head. The aroma is cherry and coffee. Feel is somehow dry but creamy. Very full feel. Great taste of sour and stout. Great beer. TheKeywork (61) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - APR 1, 2015
UPDATED: APR 16, 2015 Off the charts. This beer was a gamble at the price point but oh the wonders it unleashed. When you think of crafting a beer it doesn't get any better than this. One flavour leads to the next until it ends in a sourness that hits a perfect crescendo. So well put together it's scary.

(500mL bottle from brewery) Pours a very dark brown/black, deep mahogany highlights with a dark tan head which leaves some spotty lace. Aroma has sour dark cherry and other pit-fruit, some wood character, and in the back roasted malts and coffee to emphasize its stout-ness. Palate starts somewhat acidic and sour and fruity, and then some woody, wine-barrel type sensations and a bit of booze show up, with a tart character, light spice and coffee roast leading to a finish that’s got a light roast bitterness, bit of booze and some lingering sourness on the roof of the mouth. Mouthfeel medium but oily, with some fairly strong effervescent carb at first, but which mercifully fades. Quite a nifty beer, nice blend of stout, sour and wine characters. Another hit from Bellwoods. hangunder (305) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 5, 2013
Milk chocolate and sour notes blend together in the aroma, quite an interesting combination. A slight roastyness. Brown/black, quite dark, with thick foamy long lasting head. Looks really nice. Tastes delicious, upfront quite tart and dry, some sweetness coming through with some more milk chocolate and sourness to finish. Hides it’s ABV very well. Given it’s roasty, chocolaty flavors, seemed a bit thin. Delicious sour stout. Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 7, 2013
On tap at brewery. jet black colour. big aroma with soured notes, some cherry and apples and a very citrus or lemon note. big beer on the palate with a long finish and a complex and ever developing flavour profile. Flavours of roast and sour candy with a tart finish but fairly balanced. Great stuff. andyhwcinc (1884) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 23, 2013
Purchased at Bellwoods in Toronto, ON; enjoyed at a friends place while waiting for a notoriously late friend. Appearance is a dark toffee brown with a rich and frothy tan head that nicely laces to the glass. Aroma of sour cherries, smells dry, decent. Taste is pretty good, moderate sourness, interesting flavor, kind of like a sour cherry stout. Great brewery! mds (2250) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 22, 2014
Bottle from the brewery. May 15, 2013.
Pours black with a long lasting off-white billowing head. An abundance of cherries in the aroma along with roasted malts. Very drinkable for its strength. Lots of things going on here, I like this style. Tart fruit flavours and rich stout character make for a nice beer.
