On tap at the brewpub.
A very fruity, yet very dry belgian ale. Lots of dark fruits, dates, plums, and some apple sweetness. Quite a bit of bitterness in the finish, dry, but refeeshing. The drinkability is incredible, great stuff.
(tap at Volo during Sunsplash) hazy reddish brown colour with a small tan head; aroma of stewed fruit; balanced flavour with a medium long light bitter finish HogTownHarry (7084) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - JUN 5, 2013
January 31, 2013 - on draught at Bar Hop. Clear brownish-red pour, average slightly diminishing off-white foamy head. Sweet light roast aroma, a bit earthy, but also some tart berryfruit too, a little alcohol presence. Taste follows, some dry bitterness and light roast malt as well as more spiciness - average body, solid carbonation, quick finish with not much aftertaste - I didn’t get any real hop or chocolate character, but it was a pleasant quaff. yrstruly (359) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 12, 2013
Pours hazy mahogany with a bubbly cream head. Aroma is of dried fruit, toasted malt, with some clean yeast notes. Taste is of caramel and toast, with a hint of coffee toward the end. Lightly hopped, medium carbonation, and medium body. Nicely balanced brown ale that isn’t too heavy. rejtable (2885) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
Pours brown with little head or lacing. Nose is fruity with some yeast. Aromas of nuts, fruit, yeast and some light earthy hop notes in the finish. Tastes are light sweet, light bitter and a very faint sour hint. Body is very light. Not my favourite effort from this typiclly solid brewery. Appearance poured as murky dark amber with lighter white top.3+
Flavor and Palate : Medium bodied. Strong nutty , earthy feel. Lower carbonation than average. Semi dry finish. I like it.
650 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a lightly hazed rubyish brown with small eggshell-coloured head. Aroma is yeasty sour fruit note, caramel and nuts. Flavour is slightly sour fruit, sweet caramel, some yeasty funk, nuttiness and gentle earthy bitterness. Finish is fairly dry. Interesting and quite drinkable. blankboy (7860) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 8, 2013
Draught at Bar Hop Customer Appreciation Night, Jan. 31. Pours a murky reddish-brown with a spare diminishing frothy tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, light vegetal notes, dark fruit and yeast. Flavour of caramel malt, nuts, very light hops and dark fruit. Average to medium bodied. A tad disappointing, I didn’t much care for this, not sure why. barncatmatt (2355) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 8, 2013
bomber from bellwoods. deep reddish/brown, lasting tan head. simply dark malt and belgian phenolic nose. nice dark malt profile with the belgian yeast also showing. dryer then i was expecting. solid overall. DerWeg (1748) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 27, 2013
The make-or-breaker 10th rate. Very dark brown with gold highlights. Big aromas of dark fruit with some cocoa and even hints of coffee. Taste is very different with short dark bready grains, = a very house-y style for BW. Very herbal-dry and grainy/hop palate is refreshing. A note of raspberry emerges late. mabel (10004) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 30, 2012
[4863-20121013] Cask. Twangy floral pine hops aroma. Slightly hazy, dark reddish brown body with a quick foamy white head. Light bitter mould hops flavour has a hint of red wine features. Medium body has a good mild bitter base. Good, drinkable. (7-/3/7/3/15) 3.5
