COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
All Brett APA. Pilot (2013) was a wheat-APA malt bill fermented exclusively with Brett Trois to 6.6% ABV. Second and current version is an APA fermented exclusively with Brett Lambicus to 5% ABV. For raters who do not know (and to head off any confusion), Brett behaves very differently, and produces a totally different flavour/aroma profile when used as a primary yeast, as opposed to when used in a more typical long secondary fermentation.

Picked up a bottle at the brewery. Pours a big frothy bubbly off-white head and has a super hazy golden orangey appearance, somewhat like grapefruit juice. Some sticky lacing. Aromas of tropical fruits, citrusy, the brett yeast is fairly noticeable, hints of lemon. Flavours are also quite fruity with lots of tropical notes, grapefruit. Slight sourness in the finish. Lively carbonation. Great retention. Very good.

Very cloudy beer, a light and very funky aftertaste pale ale. Smells bretty and woody. Taste is a bit of hop, cream, earthy and funky. Yummy.

(Rating #7781)

Hazy yellow - looks a little like lemon juice. Very strong citrus notes. I was expecting some funk from the Brett but didn’t really get anything. Really nice beer.

500ml bottle (batch of June 2017) from trade with Ronnie. Aroma: nice crunchy citrus mostly lemon, tangerines and some oranges. Some pineapple and pine as well. Not funky at all. App: hazy can’t see through apricot medium white with little retention still leaving some shylacing. Taste and palate: medium body, juicy, lemony, moderate carbonation even prickly, moderate bitter finish. Overall: pretty good. After seeing the reviews from 2 years ago I was afraid it would just ok but it’s far from than that. I didn’t read them so no clue why was wrong at that time but as it is now its highly drinkable. Really feels like bitting into some citrus. Just a bit too fizzy but I wouldn’t have problem drinking this a regular basic. Great stuff.

Tasted on 3/21/15 from a capped 500mL bottle, big thanks to Jake for sending me this one. Pours hazy, muted orange with a massively thick off-white head that slowly recedes to very thick, rocky, sticky lace. The nose is funky, very dry, floral, grassy, and herbal hops, with somewhat of an earthy aroma, and some light wheat malt. The flavor is super dry, very nice herbal, grassy, and citrus flower hops, the same light wheat malt from the nose, and the super dry funk showing just a touch nutty, along with just enough citrus bitterness to balance all of the aggressive dryness. The body is medium with a somewhat creamy texture, lively, but fairly smooth carbonation, and a long, very dry, lightly nutty, and herbal, nicely bitter finish.

Bottle: Poured a hazy blonde color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some great lacing. Aroma of light dry Bretty notes is blander then I was expecting. Taste is also dominated by dry Bretty notes with light malt profile. Light lemony notes are also discernable. Body is full enough for style with good carbonation. I was expecting a beer with more character than what I tasted. Enjoyable but not sure I need to seek again.
