Noirceur impntrable, mousse mocha bruyante et phmre, chocolat noir et petits fruits rouges. Lenrobage du cognac intensifie la scheresse invitable, apporte pommes et poires et son lot de rchauffement.

Bouteille 500ml, 2014, 1463/2100, gracieuset de wilco, Thanks Mike! Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka fonc crmeuse mais fuyante laissant une lgre dentelle. Arme de lait au chocolat noir, cognac, bois, malt torrfi, noix de pcan, caramel brl. Got de cognac, chocolat, bois, malt torrfi en fin de bouche, caf en arrire-got, lalcool est invisible. Carbonatation faible, corps dense, lourd. Un autre chef duvre de la part de Bellwoods.

On tap at brewery. Black motor oil in the glass. Wispy mocha head. Nose of boozy dark chocolate. Taste powdered chocolate , raisins, almost seems oxidized but likely barrel treatment making it seem that way. The booze and chocolate are the main notes of this brew. Solid supper

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2015 2014, 500ml bottle. Pours a near black with a ring of a mocha head. Aroma had a big boozy barrel cognac, roasted malts, dark chocolate, and coffee. Taste is huge. Big roast, dark chocolate, boozey alcohol, and a strong, coffee bitter finish. Medium-full body with a low-medium carbonation with a big, dry finish and a tinge of tart on the end. Overall awesome great.

2014 release. Dark brown black body, slightest tan head, sparse lacing. Nose is intense fruity cognac with dark chocolate and light roast. Flavor profile carries over with heavy barrel character and modest malt profile. Medium bodied with smooth, slick carbonation, some earthy bitterness and a touch of boozy heat.

My 600th rating -- lord help me, Im a sinner & drink far too much -- is this imperial stout beauty. Pours a thick, oily black & offers a burnt marshmallow cap that fades quicker than Jian Ghomeshis integrity. This a bare knuckled imperial stout, with big bouncy flavours & a finely balanced use of the cognac barrel. Earlier reviews here state the barrel is hard to notice. Well, this time its different. The care & patience they used to make this brew is evident. If you like em big & boozy then this is your dream beer. Would love to cellar the other bottles I have of this but who am I kidding? I cant keep stuff like this around with out falling for temptation. Count yourself lucky if you got this years batch cuz these puppies are all gone.

2013 aged one year, bottle. Black brown with (fittingly) cognac gold-brown highlights, sticky. I think the oak tannin has tucked itself back a little with an overall smoother result, making the beer quite round (some would say velvety) with cocoa liqueur and smooth coffee. Great cascading overtones of fine warming cognac, the hops seem to express a lemony-mineral thing, ends with small hints of ash and late leafy-tannic bitterness over the sweet malts and coffee. This is quite impressive at room temperature, hiding the booze well and I will finish the bottle cooled off later. <P> If youre cellaring these they might hold on a while but I would try one right now rather than miss out on this stage of the unique 2013s development.

On tap @ the brewpub. Near black with a tan ring. Fairly prominent cognac on the nose, thick with malt. The palate is delivers heavy malts, slightly brothy, with dark chocolate and cherries, and lovely cognac and barrel flavours of vanilla, leather, and light sweet smoke. Quite cognac-forward, but still in balance without being harsh or overly boozy. A cigar beer if ever there was one!

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of roasted malt, cognac, oak, vanilla and bitter chocolate. Palate was full bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of dark chocolate, roasted malt, dried fruit, cognac and oak with a smooth dry lingering roasty dark fruit finish.

Bottle received from Winter Santa 2013/2014. Thank you pushkinwow! Pours viscous black with a rather thin dark mocha head that doesnt leave much trace while dissipating. Smell is malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, vanilla fudge, dark chocolate, cognac, salty liquorice hard candy, dark roast coffee, charred wood, raisins and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, burnt wood, cognac, hay, salty liquorice hard candy, moist soil, raisins, prunes, bitter chocolate, dark roast coffee, soot, resin and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, tiny oily, roasted astringent slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, cognac, burnt wood, soot and alcohol. Tasty
