3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014/01/14 - Pours an opaque, dark brown cola colour with a two-finger, fizzy, khaki coloured head that quickly reduces to a lasting surface film. Aroma is toasted/smokey malts, chocolate and sour brett funk (lemon and cranberries?). Taste is lemon, smokey malts, mild chocolate notes and a sweet and sour acidic aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, with lively carbonation and a tart, drying finish. Interesting mix that plays well together. Well done.

500ml bottle in the cellar since Summer 2016. Pours black with a thin dark brown cap. On the nose, cocoa, coffee, light caramel, very faint spearmint AND THEN nothing but sour cherry. Taste wise, dark rum, dark roast coffee, caramel, with lots of sour cherry candy that heads into more of the dark coffee notes, roasty malt, but again, those are all riding on the back of the sour cherry with some heavy tannins and dark malts in the bitter, long finish. This is so much better than I was expecting! beerplace (2301) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 13, 2017
500ml bottle (thx, Peter K.!). Batch #3, 2015. Pours an almost black with a beige head. Aroma is bretts, roasted malt, some fruitiness, and chocolate notes. Taste is sour, bretts, roasted malt. Roasted malt aftertaste. Quite good, but drinking a whole bottle would be very hard. kermis (14957) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 1, 2017

Pours dark mahogany red color with a small rapidly dissipating head. Aroma is ripe fruits, faint licorice, red berries, yeasty and tart raspberries. Flavor is tart raspberry and some yeast notes, dry malts, faint cocoa. Spicy aftertaste. Nice and interesting brew.
Bottle shared at KyotoLefty’s 10,000th rating celebration. Nose of rich chocolate, red wine, a bit yogurty and lactic.. Dark translucent brown. Moderate roast flavor, wine, sourish fruit, light coffee, and a smooth finish. Thin-medium body. Fun, but a bit muddled. Seems light featured for a 9.5% brew. Bottle, shared at my 10K rating celebration. Nose is grape, apples, chocolate, minerals. Some vinegar and grapes in the flavor also chocolate and citrus. Very interesting and pleasant creation. KansaiBeerLvrs (5500) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 5, 2017
Bottle I got from the original brewery though first I had to get past a hipster douchebag who was trying to tell me it was sold out even though they had posted it was on sale that day, thankfully someone else was walking by and overheard that guy and said we have a bunch in the walk-in cooler he also told me to wait at least 3 months before drinking it. It is now about 9 months later... arminjewell (9727) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - NOV 26, 2016
Soft cola brown in color with a cherry/berry aroma. Medium to light bodied with a roasty chocolate flavor that has a tangy/sour accent. Satisfying and it went well with that Rogue Hazelnut cheesecake I picked up at the Hanshin Portland Event.
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, toffee, slight funky, vinous note with a hint of oak, slight roast, coffee. Taste was a mix of coffee, oak, funk into a bit of vinous, tart notes with a hint of toffee, roast, finishing fairly tart. Interesting.
Complexe.
