Bottle: Poured a dark black color ale with a very generous brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt with subtle coffee notes. Taste is also dominated by roasted notes with some light subtle dry coffee notes. Body is light with carbonation really too strong for the style. Enjoyable session-style stout but carbonation is almost like a Coke and doesn’t really fit the style. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JAN 8, 2014
bottle from Jan, thanks!! black pour, medium bodied. nicely made, roasty, chocolatety flavor & aroma. easy drinking, nice WheatKing (1338) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - JAN 6, 2014
On tap at the brewpub. Very Dark Brown, tan head. Aroma is mole/smokey chocolate.Taste is wheaty, watery UK style cask stout. Smells excellent, at least. robinvboyer (4699) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 30, 2013
Bottle from brewery. Black pour, beige head. Great roasty smoky aroma with hints of coffee, soy and cocoa. The body is light, and refreshing. The finish is dry, lightly bitter, with a great solid roasty semi sweet finish. Incredible stout! kevinsenn (2236) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2013
Bottle from brewery. Black with brown head, turning into lacing. Roast and chocolate aroma. Taste has roasted grains, oats, and a mild dry finish. Smooth creamy body. Made me feel like another one, which I guess is the point!

On tap at Volo. Pours a very dark brown with large, creamy beige head. Aroma is light roasty coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour is also reasonably roasty with a little more coffee than comes through in the aroma and some cocoa. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice. Ferris (15906) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 7, 2013
Draft - Nitro - Roast malts and coffee. Jet black and that nitro cream head. Roast malts, little bit of dark fruit and coffee. Light and rich at the same time. On nitro this is great, likely thin otherwise. sudomorph (1170) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 2, 2013
On tap at Bellwoods. Served on nitro. Pours black with a one finger, creamy, tan head that doesn’t fade. Medium lacing clings to the glass.
Aroma is roasty with a hint of chocolate.
Taste is a mild bitter with a roastyness and a bit of tartness on the finish.
Low-medium body with a low carbonation. Very smooth and fairly clean in the mouth.
Overall nice. Tasty but not over done. Highly drinkable and sessionable. Cheers! Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - SEP 23, 2013
Tip of the hat to Sammy for the great trade. Aroma of dark roasted malts, as well as, notes of roasted meat. Pours an opaque black with an rapidly disapearing tan head and minimal to no lacing. The taste follows the the nose. Dark roast malts, with hints of coffee bitterness, chocolate, and citrus. Nice balance. Big taste for such a low ABV. Medium body and carbonation. Overall, a very nice example of what a stout should be. DuffMan (10452) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 14, 2013
Bottle, sent to me by Sammy-- thanks! Dark brown pour with a tan head that recedes rather rapidly to a light skim. Aroma is very roasty with underlying notes of chocolate and ash. The palate delivers more roast with an underlying cola-like sweetness and light cocoa. Dry short finish. A very flavourful lower ABV session stout.
