500ml bottle from the brewery in Toronto. Near black in colour with a thin tan head, light lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate coffee. Flavour is of lightly sweet chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Toasty mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. Finishes toasty and sweet.
An excellent session stout.

Black color with small beige head. Fire oven bread aroma, roasted malt. Rather dry mouthfeel, less weak then expected; good roasted malt flavor, with light presence of paper and ashes in the final, mild astringency. Nice.

-A creamy head of foam covers the blackness.
-Fieldberry fruitiness fits well with the sweetened coffee flavors.
-The nitrogenated mouthfeel works well in this case.
-This may not be all that memorable, but it is expertly made.

500 mL bottle from the brewery via my bro, served cool in a tulip glass. Deep brown-black with a decent mocha head. Lots of roasted barley, black coffee and a little dark chocolate, a bit of grape jam, nice depth. Medium+ body with moderate, slightly prickly carbonation. Roasted barley, a little more grape jelly, a little less chocolate and coffee, more straight-forward; dry with moderate bitterness and a slightly weak, roasted barley finish. 500 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a branded snifter. Pours black with a moderate tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has notes of roast malts, espresso, smoke and earth, along with subtle hops. The flavour is dry with roasted malts, espresso and perhaps a touch of chocolate. The finish is long and roasty. On the palate, it is light in body with a milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, decent for what it is, a simple sessionable dark ale.
