Tasted a small sample at a BeerThief gathering. Beer is black and very leggy. Nice hop aroma as well as the solid good roast, but not really much chocolate. Taste is all roast and some coffee very late. The finish is a very good dry, but with an edge to it. Another fine Imperial Stout from Bellwoods. gEUS (1637) - Linden, BELGIUM - AUG 25, 2014
beautiful bottle shared by dennoman. Pours intense black with a intense purple brown hue. Roasty coffe aroma’s, backed by subtle blackcurrent and elderberry notes. Thick oily body with a marvellous chocolate and coffee roast taste, and fruity syrupy hints. Definite like! Hammy78 (973) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 8, 2012
Bottle from the September release. Pours a completely opaque, motor oil black with a tan head that dies down to a thin layer. Smells of deep dark rich chocolate malt, coffee. Tastes of malt and a lot like coffee, has a bit of chalkiness to it as well, you can almost chew it. Really good. Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 27, 2015
Bottle: Thanks Pushkinwow: Chouffe glass:
Black beer with a brown head.
Great aroma of smoke, roast, tobacco, coffee, malt roast, hint of caramel, oat and light earthy.
Flavour of roast, sweet tar, bitter, smoke, herbs, coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, some spice roast, toffee and a liquorice/bay leaf tint.
Aftertaste is bitter, dark chocolate, coffee, roast, sweet tar, caramel...
Low carbo, thick oily mouthfeel, close to full body. Supreme mouthfeel! Super aroma! Tasty beer! Good! radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 21, 2015
750ml bottle from the brewery in Toronto, Ontario at one of the first bottle sale days. Deep black in colour with a thin but long lasting tan head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of chocolate, lots of roasted malts, light coffee. The flavour is heavy on the chocolate, lots of roasted malts, vanilla, dark fruits. Warming bitter mouthfeel, large body, moderate carbonation. Finishes very long, roasty and warming. A very big Imperial Stout. This is so good. Incredible balance, high drinkability. Very well done.

On tap at Bar Hop. 10% and noticeably so. Quite boozy. Aroma and flavours of bitter dark chocolate and coffee. Quite warming. crazy_cat_lady (600) - - FEB 3, 2014
January 18, 2014. 500mL bottle from Bellwoods bottle shop. Cherries and chocolate on the nose. Lovely lacing; very dark in colour. Touch of sharpness, as expected from an imperial stout. Quite nice. czar (9085) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 26, 2014
pours oily almost black with a very nice and reviving crema head, good retention and lacing. burnt malts, strong bitter chocolate and pure bitter cacao, roasted molasses, coffee - creamy latté - just a hint of lactose, very smoky, licorice, spices, blackberries, roasted acidity, pinch of dirt. moderate to low carbonation, medium to full body - oily, a bit sticky, grassy-resinous-bitter coffee-smoky finish. creamy and smooth mouthfeel. complex and very tasty. loved it! Bottle. Jet black color, dark brown head with good retention and solid lacing. Nice aroma of licorice and burnt espresso. Taste Has dark bittersweet chocolate, dark coffee, burnt brownies. One of the easiest drinking 10% stouts I’ve had. TimE (5817) - Tokyo, JAPAN - JAN 3, 2016
2013 version drank early 2016. Pours out like engine oil. Pitch black dark, tons of dark fruit, roasted malt, molasses and cacao in the nose. Tons of dark fruit, molasses, roasted malts, medium dry body, alcohol is well hidden. Low carbonation. Nice lingering malt and cacao finish. Excellent example of an imperial stout. Another winner from Bellwoods.
