COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dry-hopped sour w/ blackberry. This mixed fermentation ale is soured with a house blend of lactobacillus cultures prior to secondary fermentation and a heavy Citra-Simcoe-Cascade dry-hop. The result is juicy, sour, and thirst quenching. This limited edition version includes a large dose of blackberry, adding additional flavours of blackberry jam and a lovely deep purple colour.

czar (9334) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 25, 2017
bottle shared by mathieuc, rip man. pours cloudy pink-purple with a small fizzy off-white cap offering minimal retention and lacing. fragrant fruits, bretted blackberries, very astringent if not bitter leaves, tons of purple matter, vanilla woodsy hints - some wood; tart citrusy hops, seeds. almost bright carbonation, light body, dry and tart fruity-spicy finish. fully bright blackberries with a drying tart flora. not overly complex but solid tart fruity stuff!

(Une bouteille provenant de la source): D'emblée, le fruit s'éclate dans une pétarade confituresque qui choque de par sa vigueur. C'est délicat, un brin minéral et à peine boisé.

Opaque purple color, no head. The aroma is very weird, unexpected; plastic, ass, rubber, berries, some yogurt. Milky, tart, some nice berry juicy, and quite some astringency, also some meat.
Not bad, but very weird.

2017-07-18. Hazy red-purple body, frothy pink head fades a bit. 3++ Nice fruity aroma, the blackberry blends nicely with the more citrus like Jelly King "zip". 7++ Flavour has nice fruity blackberry with notes of currants, there a brief rough note in the middle - almost an earthy like sticks and stems but a bit sharper - that quickly transitions to a lightly acidic tart finish. Lingering aftertaste like blackberry cordial, in a good way. 7+ Average bodied palate, nice carbonation. Pretty nice! 8/4/8/3/17+ Bottle from Bellwoods, Toronto.

Bottle shared at game night by Shea. Deep purple with a pink head. Juicy wine-gummy berry character with quenching sourness. Just excellent.

Regular Jelly King is an absolute masterpiece. This isn’t too far off. Fresh 500 ml bottle from the Hafis location. Pours "purple", foggy (can’t see through it) plum with a short lived off white rose tinged head. Plenty of fine bead carbonation. Tart berry nose with notes of lemon, grass, wild yeast (of course), and fresh sour bread dough. Champagne-like mouthfeel. with mild foaming. Very tart/sour with some sour cream/cheese. Lots of fruit, but thankfully not too sweet. Tropical fruits (lemon, tangelo, pineapple) from the Citra, pine and peach from the remaining hops compliment the lacto, and fruit tart nuances. Finish is clean, refreshing, and appetizing. Plenty of wine character, and the flavour profile make this a world beater and has something for nearly any new and adventurous consumer.

[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a neat looking purple-amber with an average size diminishing bubbly light-purple head. Very tart berry aroma along with lactic notes -- that’s it. Nice flavour, easier to drink then expected, again with tart berries and lactic notes. Medium bodied. Simple but really good.

500ml bottle (thx, Chris S.!). Pours an opaque purple with a weak head. Aroma is blackberries with some a little bot strange fermented berries notes. Similar taste. Quite good.

Bouteille 500ml, gracieuseté de msjpearson, Thanks Mike! Couleur pourpre voilée, mousse rosée fugace. Arôme de mûre, agrumes, acidité. Goût de mûre, houblon fruité, acidité moyenne-faible, légèrement résineux, amertume moyenne-faible, pépin de mûre. Carbonatation moyenne-faible, corps moyen.

(500ml bottle from the brewery c/o my better half) Pours a murky light red wine colour with a short lived pinkish head. Aroma is juicy, fruity and hoppy, filled with bright tones of blackberry, raspberry and even some currant tones, with the hops providing notes of dank leafiness, citrus, and even a touch of peach or tropical fruit. Flavour just doesn’t provide the juiciness that I was expecting. There are light tart notes from the berries along with a lemony spritz and citrus peel notes, some slightly rich earthy blackberry skin, seed notes and a bit of leafiness. Overall, though, it’s not very jammy or rich in fruit character. A slight soda water minerality matches light fizzy carb and a light body.
