500 ml from the brewery. Pours a pitch black colour with a huge tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, some chocolate. Taste is roasted malts and chocolate. Pretty good.

Black, thick brown head. The aroma is coffee, whisky and smoke. The taste is bitter and not too sweet.

Winter 2015 bottling. 7.6% abv. Pours black with head approaching espresso crema. Nose is coffee, roasted, dark chocolate goodness. Wonderfully creamY mouthfeel. Taste is well balanced, deep roasted malt, sweet dark chocolate, some cola, creamy taste. Made we want to dunk a cookie into it (I didn’t). Let this one warm up. Extremely delicious.

Bon porter.

Draft at brewery. I was rather disappointed with this one. Dark pour, khaki head, that dies to a ring. Smell is off, it resembles a black IPA more than a porter, but these styles often blend into one another. It just smelt bad, with a touch of hop. Tasted worse. Didn’t like this one. Hope it was just a dirty glass or something.

500 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks Duffman). Looks good; a fairly opaque very dark (almost black) cola with foamy beige head. Smells and tastes good too; a nice balance of dark malt, loads of chocolate, and mild roast and a hint of plum alongside a well-balanced hop profile. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full-bodied and pleasantly bitter, yet smooth. Good stuff!

Sitting on the couch with my new little lad, after a satisfying family lunch of homemade mac and cheese. A black pour with just a scant ring of head. A nose of rich roasted malts with coco and coffee. Taste of heavily roasted malts, with a underlying sweetness that hints of dates, also persistent espresso and high coco chocolate bitterness.
