2018/04/01 - Pours dark brown/black with a thick, frothy tan head that slowly reduces and leaves moderate, stick lacing. Aroma is sweet molasses, vanilla, chocolate, raisin, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), licorice, wood, tobacco and rum. Taste is burnt sugar, herbal licorice notes, tobacco, raisin, figs, cinnamon, cocoa and lots of boozy spiced rum. Mouthfeel is medium to full and oily with soft carbonation and a long, sweet, warming finish. Lots of spicy boozy notes. Worth seeking out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black color with creamy mocha head. Aroma has apple brandy, spicy rum, cinnamon and dark chocolate. Taste has cinnamon, spicy rum, booze soaked dried fruits like figs and raisins, dark chocolate fudge, bittersweet finish. Full bodied, smooth on the palate. Really tasty, well balanced, smooth, a bit warming but overall excellent.

500 ml bottle from the Hafis Road bottle shop. Pours a nearly black colour with good-sized, dense mocha-coloured head. Aroma is molasses, tobacco, burnt sugar, rum, raisin, ginger and cinnamon. Flavour has molasses, lots of roastiness, rum, raisin, ginger, cinnamon and sugar. Slick mouthfeel. Impressive, though one I respect more than love.

Bottle from brewery. 2017 edition. Truly oily pour: thick, rich blackness with little to no foam. Intense beer. Scorched sugar, burnt ginger cookies, dark rum, herbal liqueur, over ripe stone fruit. To be honest it tastes a lot like the rum & chartreuse cocktail I had at Civil Liberties last night (not sure this beer is helping the hangover). Very complex, dripping with flavour, the barrel present, the booze present, all of it pleasing & unique.

Overly spiced. Heavy vanilla, all spice and molasses. Bit of booze. Don’t get the hype. May be biased against spiced beers.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2017 Always nice when u have a beer completely different of everything you had. Anise, cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla, nuts, raisins, juniper. FML. So many layers of complexity. The spices make this beer grand.

Beau stout.

500ml bottle shared with brother. 2016 vintage. Aroma: Fresh tobacco, cinnamon, light spicy rhum, subtle coffee. App: dark black, minimal brown head, no lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, ashes, moderate high carbonation, light acidity finish. Overall: this is not my favorite cask but is still well made. Like that it’s not overly sweet and never felt too good despite its high abv. Good stuff.

RBSG16 Grand Tasting. Pours a deep black with a thin tan head. Big warm alcohol, roast, wood, soft chocolate on the nose, warm rum and wood. Medium bodied, big and full of booze, rum and spicy alcohol. Long rum, warm alcohol, soft chocolate and cocoa. Big pudding.

Bottle shared at Cotteridge convention 05/03/2016. Thanks to Fin. A dark black coloured pour with a small mid tan head. Aroma is spicy, black liquorice, oak, nutmeg. Flavour is composed of woody tannin, black thick black malts, liquorice, dark choc, harsh wood. Lasting bitter liquorice. Palate is medium full bodied, sticky viscous. Good stuff.
