Beau stout.

500ml bottle shared with brother. 2016 vintage. Aroma: Fresh tobacco, cinnamon, light spicy rhum, subtle coffee. App: dark black, minimal brown head, no lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, ashes, moderate high carbonation, light acidity finish. Overall: this is not my favorite cask but is still well made. Like that it’s not overly sweet and never felt too good despite its high abv. Good stuff.

RBSG16 Grand Tasting. Pours a deep black with a thin tan head. Big warm alcohol, roast, wood, soft chocolate on the nose, warm rum and wood. Medium bodied, big and full of booze, rum and spicy alcohol. Long rum, warm alcohol, soft chocolate and cocoa. Big pudding.

Bottle shared at Cotteridge convention 05/03/2016. Thanks to Fin. A dark black coloured pour with a small mid tan head. Aroma is spicy, black liquorice, oak, nutmeg. Flavour is composed of woody tannin, black thick black malts, liquorice, dark choc, harsh wood. Lasting bitter liquorice. Palate is medium full bodied, sticky viscous. Good stuff.

2014 bottle. Black pour, smaller tan head, no lacing. Rum fairly prominent in the aroma and taste, a bit woody, molasses, dark chocolate, roasted malt. Thicker body. Definitely one to sip throughout the night.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2017 Bottle from the bottle shop from a bit ago, been in the cellar for a bit. Pours very dark with thin tan head. Strong aroma of vanilla, boozy rum, chocolate, coffee, some red berries, molasses. Smooth slick mouth feel, flavours of boozy rum, vanilla, chocolate, molasses. Lingering woody berry flavour. Lovely.

Dark brown. No head. The aroma is fairly strong nose, a lot of alcohol on the nose, This has a lot of alcohol, roast, nice date-like, plummy fruitiness. Honestly, I like it. It has a rummy note, it’s complex and strong. Not bad.

500ml bottle (thx, Peter K.!). Vintage 2016. Pours an almost black with a dark brown head. Aroma is some barrel notes, sugary, fruity notes. Taste is sweet, burnt sugar. Some barrel and chocolate notes aftertaste. Not bad, despite this one is a burnt sugar bomb. Not a fan. Again. Looks like Bellwoods stouts are not my thing.

Bottle. Pours opaque black, small brown head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is molasses, rum. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter, light rum notes. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Not really doing it for me.
