COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour Brett Ale Aged In chardonnay Barrels Warp refers to the threads that run north-south in fabric, while Weft refers to the threads that run east-west. They are woven together to create cloth, something altogether greater than the sum of its parts. Weft & Warp is a mixed fermentation ale that utilizes lactic acid bacteria and saccharomyces, in addition to several strains of brettanomyces, then aged for 12 months in Chardonnay barrels. NOTE: Pre-2017 version was a Berliner Weiss base andis listed under a separate entry.

Tasting at Matt's
Cloudy blond color. Very tart and dry beer, but it has some nice aroma of passion fruit.
Aggressive, very good.

500m;l bottle @ Matt's. Thanks dabeerbuddha. Pours a hazy rich golden colour with a thin white head. Nose is a mix of a sourness and wine barrels. Flavour is citrus with a mix of chardonnay, and then a lacto and Brett character develops on the palate. Pretty good.

Bottle - Loght Soured funk and wood. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Soured funky lemon and a dry finish. Decent.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy peachy golden with a small white head. Aroma is fairly acetic, with wine barrels, light brett, and medium-heavy acidity. Flavour brings out light acidity, citrus, some lacto, some brett, and a little chardonnay. A bit sharp, but it's pleasant enough.

2017-09-01. Crisp dark yellow body, modest off white head. Aroma has pleasant vinous fruit character. Light wood. Flavour is pleasantly moderately sour throughout. Hints of salt seem out of place (and might just be in my head?) but it's pleasant. 7+ Average bodied palate, good carbonation. Refreshing and tasty. Very nice. 7/3/8/3/16 Bottle 2017 Vintage 1 Year Blend from Bellwoods, Toronto.

Boutip (6669) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 5, 2017
Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a fizzy white head with almost no retention and no lacing. Aroma of tart and sour notes with little else to report. Taste is also somewhat one-dimensional with tart and sour notes with light funky yeast and very subtle Chardonnay flavours. Body is about average with low carbonation. Lacking complexity with average drinkability.

Bottle from the brewery. Thought I wouldn’t get a chance to rate this since I missed it the first time they released it. Very big aroma of apricots, tart green grapes, peach stones. Tastes of apricots, tart green grapes, tart green apples, middle of sour lemon and straw, with a dry, lingering mouth puckering sourness. Quite a complex beer. Better than the other one (Warp & Weft).

Bottle from April or so pours a golden haze because I swirled it up. Wow! This Sour (Berliner Whatever) gets the upgrade of the light barely oak character, spicy vanillin, plus some added fruit depth possibly from the chard wine. Tart apricot and fresh sour plum, ripe lemon, balsamic. Impressive body and completeness, slight alcohol warmth is nice. Has a whiff of very natural sweaty funk that I really appreciate.
