Built on the foundations of a classic Mild Ale recipe this dark beer has a smooth character. A welcoming flow of full bodied flavours is followed by a pleasant rounded finish derived from a delicate balance of malt and hops.

Cask at the Ale Wagon, Leicester. Purplish brown, translucent. A small ring of tan head. Chocolate malt aroma with gravy granules. Bittersweet taste reminiscent of sweat and slightly off meat. Sweaty finish with some grape in the aftertaste. Watery body. No thanks.

Tried at the Nottingham beer festival 2015. Deep ruby colour white head. Slight fruity and malt aroma. Sweetish taste and thin body.

Cak. Dark maroon color, beige head. Aroma of lightly burnt toast. Taste is fruity burnt coffee. OK.

Cask at GBBF 2015. The brewery is pronounced ’beaver’, and the East Midlands bloke in my work would go nuts if you tried to pronounce it any other way. Anyway, it’s dark brown or black with a decent tan head. Aroma is molasses. Body is medium, watery texture, smooth. Taste is watery, soft malts, sweet finish with no real bitterness. Standard mild, one of the most basic at the festival.

Fra cask på Hand and Heart, Nottingham 26 Jan 14. Ultradyp amber / svart. Lavt mokkafarget skum som etterlater litt lacing. Forsiktig kaffearoma. Smaken er svakt røstet & syrlig. Innslag av bær mot slutten.

Cask at GBBF 2013. Very dark brown colour with an off white head. Fruity malt aroma. Medium sweet, notes of chocolate. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Roasted finish. This is a decent mild.

Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Pours clear brown with a faint, white film head. Fruity aroma, some dark malts, burnt dough. Light to medium sweet flavor with dark toast and dough malts, mild sugars, hints of cocoa. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mellow doughy toast finish. Tasty mild.

Cask at the Raglan Arms, Rugby - 19/09/12. Dark chestnut brown with ruby hues and a good tan head. Decent lacing ensues and retains well. Toffee, nuts and a little dark fruit and background chocolate on the nose. Taste matches exactly. Lightish body with minimal carbonation and a really pleasant smooth feel. One of the best milds I’ve encountered.

Cask @ GBBF ’12. Pours deep brown with no head. The nose is marmite, blackberry jam, coca cola, chocolate. The taste is light cola, some nuts, chocolate and raspberry syrup. Cocoa powder. Light, soft and drinkable. Fairly good.
