Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
A traditional style bitter beer with plenty of character based on popular local ales of the past. Deep orange in appearance, the beer combines a sharp dry flavor with a generous bitterness to leave a distinctive taste on the palate.

BlackHaddock (7961) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 24, 2014
Half-pint at the 2014 Lincoln beer festival: based on the old ’Shipstones Bitter’ according to the CAMRA notes at the festival. Anyway it pours a light amber with a white collar. I found it a bit bland and uninteresting, mild blend of nothingness really. Not something I could recommend, just too watery in nature.

rosenbergh (11954) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 5, 2011
Cask at Salutation Inn, Nottingham, England.
Clear amber colour with small frothy off-white head. Very mild bitter aroma. Mild bitter hops with some minty twist in flavour. Thin and very easy.

Cask conditioned handpump Malt Shovel Northampton. A copper coloured beer with a good white head and lace. A hint of diacetyl in the otherwise sweet aroma. A sweet malty taste with husky cereal notes. Quite chewy. Not mad keen on this.

BoozyBugger (15) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JUL 9, 2008
Tasted at Chelmsford beer festival 08. Dry hoppy nose with long caramel finish. Nice beer, would try it again

albertane (377) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - JUN 22, 2008
Cask at the Bell, Nottingham. This deep gold beer has a nice bready aroma and flavour but was rather bland and made little impression.

harrisoni (19552) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 16, 2007
Cask gravity at GBBF 2007. Copper, lasting beige head. Actually decent session bitter. Little bit of toffee, some decent hop on end. Fine.

MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2007
A Mes rate: Wow! A lot better than I was expecting. Or maybe I am more drunk than I think I am and this beer has just become my best friend. Darkish amber, lots of malt, fairly straight forward but just very good at what it does. Really enjoyed this.

Fin (11069) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 23, 2006
Cask, Gravity at the oepning of Merton playground Sat 21st October 2006. Traditional in colour and also traditional in style. Poured amber in colour, with very little head. This beer was a very decent session bitter, nice bitter bite, good hop charactistics, little bit fruity and dry, nothing fancy just a very decent, dependable lower abv beer.

omhper (25955) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - AUG 8, 2006
[Cask at GBBF] Sweetish with some resiny hops and lightly raisiny malt character. Light bodied with light sparkling mouthfeel and notes of grass. An easy going pleasant mild with medium bitterness.

imdownthepub (15525) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 20, 2005
Cask Conditioned at Ye Olde Dolphin, Derby. Amber to gold colour with bubbly head. Archtypal session bitter, dry , hoppy bitter finish, straightforward and honest to goodness. I could probably spend long nights on this.
