3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (twist top). Pours as one of the palest dubbel’s that I have ever seen (probably 10 or so SRM) golden hue with a lasting, thick, off-white head. Good lace. Strongly estery and fruity aroma. Runs the gamut from raspberries to bright and ripe apple. A bit of brandy and orange curacao. Nice and full bready to biscuity, baked goods malt quality with a small hint of caramel. A bit of a floral quality. A bit raisinated. Flavors are a bit heavy on a toffee, marmalade, caramelized character. A bit of curacao. A hint of tartness towards the finish. Falls a bit flat flavor wise. Seltzer. Very fruity, raisins, a bit of green apple, artificial grape. Malt richness seems to be left behind a bit. Finishes very dry. Lively carbonation, some warmth and perky fusel alcohol notes. A different take, interesting.
Surprised to find this beer just sitting on the shelf at Malt and Vine, next to the last bottle, which I might bring home. 2010. Pinkish red pour with a quick fade head. Fresh cherry MD berries aroma. Smooth semi sweet berry, cherry, candy like flavor. Seems like time soured this a bit, which is very nice. Red wine notes late. Quite enjoyable for sure. argo0 (14128) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 6, 2015
33cl, 2010 vintage. Small off-white head atop clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, Sherry, caramel, some banana, Belgian yeast spicy. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, banana, Sherry, light bubblegum. Medium body, some stickiness, low carbonation. Scrapersnbeer (1533) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 17, 2014
Tart citrus and caramel aroma. Orange-tan color. Sweetish sour and tart-bitter flavor, more like a tripel than a double. Thinner and dry as well. Not the world’s best, okay Belgian style. Travlr (27349) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 23, 2013
Bottle. Cloudy amber brown color, medium off white head. Aroma of apples, caramel. Taste is fruity, slightly sour, caramel. portableparty (2398) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 1, 2013
2010 bottle. Pours hazy dirty copper with a tight sudsy white head that dissipates to a soapy spotty film and sudsy collar. Aroma is sweet caramel some yeast, but the earthy bitter hops really show. Taste is bitter with a strange funk and tart sweetness along with some spearmint and clove. Really odd tasting I can’t tell if this is on purpose or infected. Palate is thin fizzy and drying.

Backlog of ratings. Thanks to someone at one of bu11zeye’s tastings. The look is cloudy, an off white head, and orange in color. The smell is yeast, fruits, alcohol, and ok. The taste is dried fruits, yeast, and alcohol. jkwalking05 (4746) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUL 16, 2013

Cloudy dark amber beer, little white head. Woody sourness and light mild chocolate on the nose. Light dry palate. Dry sour malt. Tart orange and a little lemon and coca cola. Dry spice and a trace of mild chocolate. Subtle butterscotch. Finishes very dry. Not bad but way over dry.
An 11.2 ounce bottle, dated 2010. Pours a cloudy dark orange with thin white head. Aroma of fruits and sugars. Taste is a little flat. Otherwise, this Belgian is fairly typical, alcohol is there in the background. Dark fermented fruits and candied sugars. Moderate thumbs up. maxwelldeux (4373) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Has some sweet notes that come through in the nose and taste of this one. Pours cloudy and amber with a minimal head. A nice Belgian...
