Pours clear golden yellow/brass. Aroma of resinous hops, herbal notes, pine, orange peel, and caramel malts. Flavour the same. Nice, full bodied, well balanced. dnbthompson (40) - Bend, Oregon, USA - APR 3, 2012
This beer has changed over time. The old Hop Head was a cloudy, citrus flavored Imperial IPA. Now appears filtered and more of a resin like IPA. Too bad. This was a local favorite when available. The alcohol was masked in earlier version now dominates the palate. Tawnya the brewer has left...things change. But...if you are in town....it still is worth the price on Tuesday locals night! cmonster (1000) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 21, 2011
Bomber served in a tulip. Pours dark orange with a slight haze, medium-sized head of good retention and bubbly lacing. Sofft aromas of orange, pine, grass, light malt, and earthy spice. Also some cotton candy and big-time floral notes as it warms. Medium sweet, mild bitter flavor. Balanced but the bitterness grows. Medium body, heavy texture, low carbonation, and a balanced finish. mcberko (18557) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 6, 2011
22 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, piney & resinous hops, butter and substantial caramel malt backing. Flavour is more subdued on the fruits, with more herbal / hempy hops, some pine and resin, with buttery malts. Beautifully balanced and finishes with herbally hops. savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JUN 26, 2011
22 oz bottle. Clear golden with a white head and visible carbonation. Big citrus, pine and cotton candy aroma. Flavor is lots of bitterness with a balanced, smooth malt presence. Medium body with average carbonation and a clean, bitter finish. This is a nice IIPA, big citrus/pine character and very balanced.

Bottle... Poured pale golden with a white head. Nose had a lovely, NW hop floralness. In the flavor the hops played like pine, citrus, and grass. Wonderfully balanced with a decent malt flavor going on too. Crisp and refreshing with some cereal grains, yeast esters, peppercorns, root-grass, and earthy hop spice. dnstone (3485) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - APR 2, 2011
Malty nose, not as hoppy on the aroma. Hazey gold in color. Sweet with a lightly earthy hop finish. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 25, 2011
tasting on 3/19/11. golden pour with a 1/4" white head. citrus hop nose. big hop flavor throughout the mouth but falls a bit towards the back. grapefruit notes linger. dry bitter finish with more citrus notes. overall a hop forward IIPA w/o a lot of malt. crossovert (13724) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2011
A decent IPA, not as West-Coast as it could be with the big malt backing it gets. CelticBrew (912) - The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA - FEB 5, 2011
Pours from can, huge grapefruit notes, tropical flowers. Formed nice beige foamy head. Flavour was of grapefruit and pine resins with tropical fruity notes with a bit of field grass. Lacing nice and alcohol has small hint of burn, with a slight caramel character. Mouthful is full bodied and sticky. Huge beer, very enjoyable.
