On tap at the brewpub. Hazy deep golden, lighter than I expected for a DIPA. Fine creamy off white head with nice lasting lacing. Modest hop aroma and some sweet maltiness. Hop flavors were a little muted but it was plenty bitter. Actuall I am not sure it can keep up with the Imperial Red in this department.
Syne they were trying to be careful not to infringe on being a BW but this only a small notch above many IPAs I’ve had. Nicy bitter, fairly balanced and good, just not very daring.

Smells like marmelade on toast with more hops, a little more assertive. Earthy and lightly fruity. Pours hazy orange golden, not much head or lace. Marmelade, toast, dough, mango, peach, earthy, floral/peppery notes, light alcohol. Light citrus as well. Clean, dry, pleasantly fruity iipa. Drinks well, tastes nice, is enjoyable. scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - JUL 27, 2010
thanks bvc! Little gummy spongy aroma, caramel base is almost too strong. thin bodied, weak sauce. pine and sunflower seeds. lovely lingering leafy finish. bvc (1242) - Washington, USA - JUL 27, 2010
22oz capped brought back by a co-worker. Clear bright caramel golden with white small head and larger fish eyed bubbles. Nose is quite light for a dipa...cramel grapefruit, hints of pineapple, bread, resinous pine and grass. Light orange tea, bitter pine, citrus pith, zest, bready malt, caramel. Warms quite a bit on the way down. Taste like a bitter. Solid and glad to try it, but don’t feel an urge to seek it out again soon. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JUL 27, 2010
22. Thanks alex! Pours a cloudy orangeish medium amber. Loose creamy tan head. Big toast orange and grapefruit nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Marmalade on toast on the mid palate. Long bitter piney resin finish.

Excellent IPA. Compares to Maui Big Swell IPA BUT NOT AS AGRESSIVE.
I love this beer and will be back. At the Brew Pub in Bend, the servers were top notch. The food was excellent. For a small brew pub you Ave got to stop here and try it. Aloha your Maui Beer snob, Kenika DrBayern (1139) - Morehead City, North Carolina, USA - MAR 22, 2010
22 oz. bottle shared by my nephew on a recent trip to Denver - Thanks Andy!! Beautiful pour that shows a large off white head and an orange/yellow body. Nice citrus rind aroma that is not overstated, and blends well with some lighter fruity aromas and hints of toffee. Very clean palate, deliciously smooth with a medium body. What really struck me about this beer was the balance. Solid, light malty backbone holds up well to the predominately citrus rind bitterness. Very nice all the way around. Too bad the distribution is so limited, but at least the folks in Bend have got a winner with this. Brigadier (3725) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - MAR 22, 2010

Thanks to buffalohead for sharing a bottle of this that he picked up on a recent trip to the West Coast. Bend Brewing must be a well kept secret because until now they were not on my map. If I ever make it out that way again I will be sure to stop by. If this beer is any indication they deserve more press.
Aroma / Appearance - The cloudy mandarin body sparkled by the light of the fire. Mildly carbonated it smelled of oranges, peaches, vanilla, and other pleasant citrus notes. This was bright and lively with even a cursory sniff.
Flavor / Palate - Oranges and melon filled the mouth with a chewy sweetness. The hops are balanced and apparent without being overly aggressive. If this is an imperial IPA it is well balanced and much easier drinking than some with a higher rating.
22oz bottle-pours a big retaining off white head that laces and gold color. Aroma is sweet pineapple/resin, some medium malt. Taste is sweet pineapple/resin hops bite, nice light/medium malt-caramel backbone. Slick mouth feel. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - DEC 21, 2009
Bottle:   Golden straw, cloudy, large frothy white head, sticky lacing.   Sweet citrusy hop nose.   A little candyish in its sweetness.   Smooth sweet citrusy hoppiness on the tongue.   Now this stuff is good!   Hops linger, but also this citrus zing that’s rather sweet.   Rather well balanced between bitterness and sweetness.   Lingering citrus bitterness at the finish.   Glad this has a sweet aspect for an IIPA.   Could stand to be a bit maltier, but as is its well balanced.   I could drink several of these. Yeah!!!
