Aroma is wheat, light bananas and funky/spicy cloves. The flavor is wheat, light citrus, mild fruit sweetness, cloves and a slightly spicy/tart finish.

Bottle from pudel (enjoyed on the ship ride back). Orange hazy. Overripe bananas, wheat malty, slight wet town murky nose. Med bodied, well carbonated. Wheat malts, some vegetable notes, messy. Has good esters, but overall a bit messy.

Whole Foods, Bowery 50cl ($3): Pours a light cloudy amber with a nice weizen head. Aroma is mostly banana and spice.Taste is sweet, almost bubblegummy. Not too much carbonation. Pretty good hefeweizen.

(bottle) pours a murky golden color with a small frothy white head. aroma of white grapes, caramel and multi-grain bread, quite earthy, with a subtle hint of vanilla and lemons. flavour is mostly the same, caramel is dominant, with a hint of raisins, wheat and a slightly dry alcoholic finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle with many thanks from MiP. Hazy orange-amber colour with steady head and medium body. Nose of yeast and sparkling wine. Taste of mild elegant yeast, fresh bubbly hops, grass and green apples. Due to its high carbonationcarbonation it is quite refreshing. Nice one - and I must admit this though I don’t really like Hefeweizens anymore.

.5l Bottle from Kuca Piva in Zagreb. Another German Hefe (which Marko loves, look for his take): Spicy darker orange body with smooth full flavor, mellowed candy and full malting for body. Great feel, heavy for a Hefe, soapy head that cuts through all the sweet mass. Tasty, full bodied sweet and sour hefe, not extreme on any edge. Quite tasty and also interesting. Would love to try this in a pint that I wasn’t reading too closely

Bottle:   Pale amber, orange hued, minor haze, lively carbonation with a large foamy white head, sticky lacing.   A bit more orange than others, thats for sure.   Wheaty nose, pale breadiness as well.   No real clove, banana, or bubble gum to mention.   Similar tongue, wheaty, a bit sweet, bready, but again... no spices I usually associate with the style.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Lingering wheat and breadiness.   Very simple, clean, but lacking the spices I like to see in a German Hefeweizen.

ben4321 (6829) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - OCT 9, 2014
Location: Draft at Reichenbach Hall, 9/12/14

Aroma: The nose wheat and malts, sweet, fruity, some banana, a bit of spice
Appearance: This one pours an orange color with a decent sized creamy off-white head
Flavor: The flavor follows suit with the nose, sweet malts and wheat, a little spice
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a decent mouthfeel, and a plus carbonation
Overall Impression: This one is fairly unexciting. It’s just fine I guess, nothing much beyond that. You could certainly do worse...
