Draught at ’Mondial de la Biere 2009’, Montréal, QC. Pours a hazy orange with a small creamy white head. Aroma: I’m not a huge fan of Pilseners but this smells right on style to me: Bready along with grassy Euro hops, some hay, grains and cereal. Flavour’s bready with Euro hops along with cereal and some citrus -- again right on style. Long bitter finish. Medium bodied. As far as Pilseners go, this is one of the better ones for sure. UPDATED: DEC 21, 2009 In short: A big body uber-hoppy pilsner that stands out from the crowd.TaktikMTL (7733) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 8, 2009
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a white ring of foam
In long: Nose of dry grass. A whole lot of cereals in this one. The attack is full of crisp yet chewy bread & hay with a light honey flavour. This is followed by a ton of tasty grassy resinous hops. Very long finish, very bitter and rather dry with a little sand-paper sensation. With such an hop avalanche the beer could have used a slightly sweeter malt profile. Something about the whole thing makes it something else than yet-another-good-pilsner but I cannot describe it. This tasty refreshing brew should be brewed regularly because I’m a big fan of Magnum P.I.lsner.
My Bottom Line:Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 2, 2009
This Pilsener’s poignant herbal and resinous hoppiness bounces off cracking hay and straw, leading to a balanced, generous bitterness which compels you to drink bigger gulps.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy slice of foam decorates the clear golden.
-Carbonation is cushiony and the mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing.
-The exclusive use of Magnum hops is perfect in giving this lager a personality which is distinct from most euro-brewed pilseners.
-I get the impression I will completely fall in love with this one when I get the chance to have a few pints of it in a row. Please brew this more often, Benoit!
On tap at the Mondial de la Bière.
Whoa first rating! Pours a very light golden with a nice carbonation- thin head and slight lace. Aroma is bready pils, doughy malts and a good amount of fresh euro hops- flora and herbal. Flavor- is even more legit- tons of fresh euro hops and tons of fresh bready malts. Finshes and mouthfeel are clean and refreshing. Awesome stuff. Dany says this is their first pils? Wtf? They sure know whatthey are doing. Great!
