Bottle. Pours black with a 1-finger, foamy, briefly lasting head that leaves fair lacing. Aroma is juniper, dark chocolate and coffee. Lots of coffee in the flavor along with juniper, malty sweetness and a bit of alcohol, medium body, appropriate carbo, medium sweet and light bitter taste leading to a dry, medium bitter lingering finish. Not again for me. Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - MAY 22, 2017
Bottle to tulip (imperial black IPA), the appearance was a black color with a lasting finger’s worth of off white foamy head. Mildly dissipated to leave some glossy lace.
The aroma had some sweet juniper/sprucy dryness, light roast, some dark chocolate and a touch of dried earthy hops.
The flavor was super dry and malty. Juniper sweetness was there and the bitterness too. Earthiness substantiated the aftertaste super dryly. The finish was dry, somewhat roasty with a pummeling ash.
The palate was almost medium bodied with more of a sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, I don’t see myself coming back to this.
