Brewed to a smooth, chocolatey, semi-roasted ale that bridges the islands of porter and stout. And if you arent a fan of bridges, theres always the canoe.

12oz can poured at home. Can says its a black ale, ratebeer says its a stout - untapped says its a dark ale. Either way, it is a nice refreshing beer.

Can: Charred oak, tree bark, and bakers chocolate aroma, not strong. Mahogany, thin tan head. Chocolate and raisin, strawberry accents. Medium body, moderate carbonation. I expected this to be fairly ordinary but it turned out to be really nice.

Body is lighter than a porter but the dark, slightly bitter chocolate aroma is more in line with a porter and an excellent indicator of the taste to come. Mildly sharp and sweet finish reflects its good overall balance. Poured from a can.

Can in a Minneapolis restaurant. Darkish brown black colour, off white foam. Quite bitter, lots of black and chocolate malt, but also quite some hop with a slightly herbal and bitter note. A bit fizzy and somehow not that easy to get down. Just felt a bit almost there but not quite coming together.

Very attractive black pour with a luscious, full, creamy opaque head that looks like melted ice cream. Lots of roasted coffee, chocolate and malt. Super creamy palate and great lacing. Great beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the source with blonderedhead in a 16 oz pint glass. Black with a tan head. Good lacing. Aroma is roasty and nutty with lots of coffee elements. Taste is definitely coffee forward with a healthy bitterness, nutty warmth, and roasty malt finish. Dark, winter undertones that fit a Feb night. Coffee isnt necessarily my type of thing but this one has a good beer soul that works for me. This brewery has a ton of momentum and Im starting to really value them as a quality MN representative.

Can. Pours deep black with small off-white head. Nose is creamy cocoa and coffee. Flavor is like that of rich baltic rye bread finishing with very mild sweetness and a touch of bitterness on the finish. Palate is not as thick as expected, but that makes it easier to quaff than a stout. Great dark beer for a late winter afternoon in the upper midwest.
