Bottle @ home, courtesy of pepsican bronus. Pours a deep brown appearance with a dark brown fizzy head that disappears quickly. Cookie, dark chocolate chip, a bit doughy, coffee, dessert aroma. Kind of thin. Quite spicy, very roasty earthy coffee flavor. Pretty decent but a bit over the top.
12 oz bottle. Pour was dark black and had a pleasant mild coffee aroma. Flavor was excellent, very smooth mouthfeel with well balanced coffee flavor with a hint of chocolate and vanilla. dinkle50 (1488) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 1, 2017
Black pour with an espresso colored single finger head. Aroma is chocolate brownies with a hint of coffee. Peanut butter too. Medium bodied. Lingering coffee flavor with a dry finish. Something tart in the flavor that probably shouldn’t be there. Maybe an old bottle, but this beer is not great. ajnepple (6698) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 15, 2017
On tap at El Bait Shop. Black appearance with a minimal tan head. Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, coffee, light caramel, light nutty malts, light toffee and mild spices (cinnamon, vanilla). Similar flavor, rich, spiced, dark and malty with a touch of alcohol at the finish. Solid stout overall. crossovert (13078) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 31, 2016

Tap at Bricks. Black with a creamy brown head. Big roasted coffee and brown sugar aromas with graham cracker, cinnamon and milk. Flavor is very malty and sweet with a light ashy coffee aftertaste. Heavier body with a sticky feel.

12oz bottle. Poured a nearly motor oil black, but it’s not as thick as it looks. Fast dissipating head. Aroma is light mocha notes, some bitter dark chocolate in there, roasted malts. Flavor was roasted malt notes, mild coffee. A touch thin on the mouthfeel, but the lower ABV helps. DandyWolfFloyd (1202) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2016
Aroma - pepper like heat, caramel, and chocolate.
Appearance - the body is black. Head is a light brown and 1 1/4", and rings out.
Taste - has a caramel quality similar to a Caramelo. There is a very small amount of roast, some chocolate, a hint of spice (cinnamon and heat ~ hot pepper-like), and pecan.
Palate - medium body, suave texture, soft carbonation, and slight peppery heat. drywallman (366) - Lake in the Hills, Illinois, USA - NOV 16, 2015
Poured chocolate-like into my glass with a light brownish head that lasted for a good long time. Malt had the expected caramel, chocolate, nutty, coffee (without the burnt and acidity components) flavors. Hops were appropriately not noticeable, other than giving a slight herbal component. Body was not as thick or heavy as one would expect. I thought that was a good thing. I could easily go through two of these compared to other stouts. UPDATED: NOV 18, 2015 Perfect perfect aroma. Missing on mouth feel. Flavor Carmel and coffee. Pretty amazing it is like candy good beer. Mouthfeel is still solid. It isn’t far from being a near perfect beer. Good on all counts. Nice thin lasting head also. Good job guys... one of the best of IOWA. GranvilleTim (1855) - Granville, Illinois, USA - FEB 23, 2015
