22oz hand bottled from Duane! - Thanks! - Pours dark brown fairly transparent with a short offwhite head. Aromas of slight coffee, lots of roasted malts and a little chocolate. Flavor is mostly roasted malt but I got some definite chocolate and a good amount of coffee as well. Medium body but a little watery on the palate and a slight bitterness at the finish..

Nice pour, a clear dark brown with ruby highlighting and a modest off-white head. The aroma is coffee with lightly roasted barley and some bittersweet chocolate. Smooth. The flavor is a nice blending of the three, but sadly a touch of lactic sourness comes forward in the finish. Otherwise pretty decent.

On tap @ Old Chicago. Poured a dark ruby with a small eggshell colored head. Aroma of oats, lots of dark chocolate and roasted malts, and some coffee. Taste was of lots of roasted malts and bitter chocolate, with a little coffee, finishing with a lingering bitterness. Low carbonation, a little watery. I didn’t think this was particularly exceptional.

On tap @ the Bent River Brewpub. Nice deep dark body with a tan head. Aromas of coffee/chocolate/cheerios. Light chocolate flavors with coffee and oats.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark brown color with thin tan head. Smells of vanilla extract. Chocolate, coffee, and vanilla flavors in equal proportions. Body is very light for a stout.

THe Bent River never dissapoints me with their beers. This Oatmeal stout, for some reason reminds me of fresh baked bread with a hint of honey. Almost like a light honey glaze. Great color and a thick head give this a great filling taste. Must try!

UPDATED: APR 9, 2006 Recieved a hand bottled sample courtesy of Duane. Thanks. Black body that shows a beautiful ruby color when held to the light. The aroma is strong roasted coffee with some chaocolate and peanuts. The taste has roasted peantus and coffee. There is also some caramel. A fairly sweet finish. Nice. I had this again at Old Chicago in Coralville, IA. Got about the same rating. Good stuff.

Handbottled via Duane, thanks!

Pours a medium brown hue with a fizzy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, oatmeal, prune, grassy hops, and coffee. The taste follows suit mostly starting with a nice mocha and grassy hop balance with some twangy fruit, earthy yeast and a finish notes some iced coffee character. The feel is fizzy and thin, oatmeal stout should have more body than this, refreshing enough though. A good beer and glad to have tried it.

Nice flavor on this black beer with a sticky head. Roasty, toasty and pretty high on the smoothness meter ... slightly above average.

hand bottled in a swingtop bottle by duane, pour is an inky black with a creamy coffee colored head, actually quite considerable for a non-nitro stout. aroma has a distinct sweetness, oats, caramel, and a bit of burnt coffee. a sweet burnt oatmeal taste starts off with a little bit of coffee, fading away to a nice light amount of chocolate malts and just a tad of bittering hops. mouthfeel is pretty thin and a bit watery, but the lingering chocolate flavor saves it a little. 2nd offering from this brewer, and 2nd rather enjoyable experience. thx duane.
