Cask at WJK, Dublin. Deep dark coal black with tan froth. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, hints of peat and smoke, some red fruit. Taste is brilliant: big coffee/chocolate hit followed by plenty of dark fruit and light but meaty smoked notes. Some sweetness to balance out the earthy hop tones. Full mouthfeel. Absolutely delicious; a bit of a rarity, but certainly worth seeking out. beerfest5 (1207) - Cloneen, IRELAND - JAN 18, 2014
A nice well balanced porter that doesn’t try to do too much or be too complex. Very traditional in all aspects. Would like to see more of a unique approach from this brewer, porter is a style that is very forgiving when making creative additions such as native honey, chocolate, etc. triskaideka (369) - Killarney, IRELAND - DEC 22, 2014
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2015 bottle at home - poured black with tan/beige head - not long lasting. Aroma - coffee, chocolate. Medium to full bodied - coffee and chocolate notes in taste - moderate bitterness. Pretty good - enjoyed this a lot

Pours black with a very small brown head. Medium carbonation. Very roasty hoppy flavour with some limited bitterness in the mouth and in the finish but that is offset by a sweetness that’s also present. Very nice mR_fr0g (13174) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2013
Bruce’s birthday tasting st the craft. Nutty peat smoke nose. Dark caramel colour. Roast smoke flavour. Soft coronation. Pretty good.

Farbe ist klassisch-dunkel mit beiger, dicker Schaumkrone. Wunderbares trockenes Schokoladen-/Kaffeearoma, keine besonders starke Süße, schwacher Holzkohlegeruch.
Geschmack leicht rauchig mit einem Anflug von Aschenbecher, relativ trocken: Kohle, Erde, starker Kaffee. Schokoladennote kommt leider nicht mehr so zum Tragen. keadec (6) - Not your concern, IRELAND - JUL 25, 2012 does not count
Pours a dark brown with a tan hue, good off white head, medium carbonation.
Smell is of Hops, malts and barley.
Taste is a big strong taste of hops, coffee and a bit nutty.
I’ve being waiting to have a crack off this one. Its has a strong taste and can be a bit powerful and a tad bitter. Long Length in taste. This will grab by the seat of your pants and give you a an attention getting weggie. This I feel is more a drink for the seasoned stout drinker. It reminds me of a cross between Nigerian Guinness and Guinness Bitter for the English Market. omhper (25560) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - NOV 17, 2012
Bottled at Black Sheep, Dublin. Near opaque black, small creamy head. Aroma of red berries and earth. Mid sweet with soft mouthfeel and mediu mbody. Rich and full flavoured. Fruity with some strawberry esters and earthy licorice, notes of yeast. Mid bitter finish. Rustic and complex with some flaws but a great array of flavours. northropfrye (3677) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 14, 2013
Bottle in Dingle. Dark black, white head, lacing. Roasty tart aroma, taste is roasted chocolate malts, but also a touch tart, bitterness. A really nice porter. stravale (3088) - Co. Westmeath, IRELAND - APR 3, 2014
Bottle from Drinkstore
Black, slight ruby light through at edges of glass, initial thin beige head that dissipates to no head at all
Aroma of soft roasted malts, dark fruity malts, sweet dark caramel malts
Taste of soft roast, nice dark fruity malts, dark fruity chocolate, touch of brown bread, some blackcurrant, quite complex
Palate - Very soft carb bordering on to flat, a bit thin, smooth bit oily. Finish as main flavour, smooth sweet dark fruits.
Overall - Let down by the body being a bit thin and it was rather flat, but had a really good flavour. Would really like to try this on cask one day
