Backlog rating. 50cl bottle at CBC Clerkenwell, Gunnar tasting. Thanks Gunnar himself for this one. It pours a brown color with ruby edges and a medium beige head. Aroma is sweet with dried red beeries, booze, toasted bread with butter, toffee. Taste is quite sweet with notes of toasted malts, blackberry marmalade, wet soil, vanilla and caramel. Finishes relatively sweet and boozy. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Nice beer overall

A very dark reddish brown with a big, beige head. Milk chocolate sweetness in the aroma, but flavours of date, caramel and tawny port in the taste, but without the sweetness of a port. Very little bitterness from the hops. Very smooth taste and big mouth feel. Long lingering finish of milky coffee flavours. The sample was from a 33cl bottle brewed in 2013.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell during the Gunnar Tasting. Thanks to Gunnar for this one! Pours ruby-brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has rich bread, old fruits and alcohol. Medium sweet flavor with bready malts, faint milk chocolate, booze, earth, leather. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel. Moderately warming to finish with dark brett, more aged fruits and light earthy bitterness. Good one.

Holmen2 (3731) - NORWAY - JAN 18, 2014
UPDATED: MAY 1, 2014 Dark ruby. Beige head. Pure and refreshing aroma of toffee, dark chocolate and hops. Taste of dark malts, dark chocolate and dates balanced with bitterness, perhaps with a slight hint of citrus and pine. An excellent yule tide beer! Round mouthfeel.
