Dark brown, finger thick tanned head that leaves very nice laces. Smells of caramel, clove, raisins, nuts and prunes. Full matl body with markant but not dominant sweetness, dried fruits and caramel. Nice bitter finish. One of the absolute best of the traditional style norwegian christmas beer.
Sampler from bottle at Nærbø Ølfestival 2011. Short lived film on a clear deep mahogany body. Dried dark fruits on the nose. Medium to full body. Sweet, fruity, toasted, prune juice and malts in the mouth. Dry tongue. str023 (123) - Stokmarknes, NORWAY - NOV 9, 2011
Dark-dark mahogany body with a beige head. Aroma of spice, licorice, roasted malt, figs and rasins. Rich body with a thick texture, and mouthfeel. I look forward to this "juleøl" from Berentsen every year. janeriks (30) - KVALØYSLETTA, NORWAY - OCT 5, 2011
Caramel and coffe, some sweetness, dark reddish brown, clear, with a tan head. Medium, sweetish taste, has kept well (this is the 2010 edition). Medium body, soft carbonation, a bit short finish.

Bottle at the courtesy of Rune. Medium high creamy lasting off-white head. Clear dark ruby body. Coffee cocoa roasted malt dried fruit relatively sweet and yet pleasant aroma. Mild and sweet roasted malt with coffee cocoa dreied fruit and little hops bitterness. The balance is however good and the beer is not too sweet. Short aftertaste. Pours clear reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Taste is light sweet. Texture is oily with soft carbonation.
0.33l bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours a dark brown body with a thin beige head. The color of the body was a bit lighter than I thought. Nose is heavy chocolate, some cappuccino. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. In mouth there are lots of chocolate malts, liquorish and some dark fruits in the background. Medium dry finish. Nice one! borresen (15) - Gan, NORWAY - DEC 3, 2010
Bottle of the 2010 batch from Vinmonopolet. pours dark brown with a white head that fades quickly. Smells much like their bigger brother Jule Avec of dark fruits andmalt, but not as intense. Not very much taste. The category must be wrong, this is definently not a Porter, reminds me more of a bock. abstractbeer (242) - NORWAY - NOV 9, 2010
"2010 edition", bottle from Vinmonopolet. Very dark brown, close to black. Nice light brown head which fades quickly. Smells more like a craft beer than a industrial beer. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate in the nose, some fruityness. Perhaps a tiny hint of nutty cheese. Aroma is - interesting! Raspberries? No, not quite, but something like that. Damn, I’m having a hard time putting this into words! Nutty, fruity... Somewhere in that area! A bit roasted, yet sweet. Heh - it reminds me of some kind of shower soap!! I mean that in a good way! Very good, stands out from all the boring christmas beers! Coffee inspired bitter aftertaste. Soft carbonation, which suits this beer just fine.
