Holy mother of christ this is insane. Pours a deep and incredibly syrupy brown, like a cola syrup. Zero head. Aroma is figs, malt, and a subtle undertone of bathtub wodka. It takes a couple of sips to actually figure it out, but I think this tastes like liquorice, dark chocolate, and plums. Oh, and moonshine. It’s actually not so bad until it hits your tongue, but the aggressively boozy nature of this beer is just too much. The guy whose review was just gibberish was probably typed after his first sip.

BlackHaddock (7672) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 10, 2016
500ml bottle (2012) between five at the December 2016 Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting in Chez Sophie. Cheers Mat for another interesting offering. It poured reddy brown, a very dark brown actually, sadly no head at all. Aroma was of malts and dried fruits (dates, figs etc). Taste was rich dried dark fruits (again dates and figs) and coffee/chocolate cake. Alcohol noticeable but not ’in your face’ for a 19%ABV brew.

minutemat (6044) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 5, 2016
500ml bottle from trade with Gunnar @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie. Pours deep reddish dark brown, no head whatsoever. Aroma of rich malty grainy dates, cola. Taste is oily, rich dark fruits, grains, dates, dark fruits, chocolate cake, warming, rich, boozy. For a 19% beer, this is surprisingly balanced.

330 me bottle. Nearly black. No head. Some taste of alcohol. A nice dessert beer.

Massive, well-balanced and slightly sweet. Lingering rich, full flavored taste, flat foam. Hints of dried fruit, spices and dark malt. Perfect to Christmas cakes and desserts. Good candidate for storing a couple of years.

Bottle. Black colour with large creamy light brown mostly lasting head. Aroma is roasted malt. Sweet spicy flavor with worm alcohol finish. Creamy palate.
