On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Black colour, creamy tan head. Aroma of roast malts and coffee. Smooth flavour, dry rather than sweet, with notes of roast malts, coffee and unsweetened liquorice.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours black as Coke with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of dark malts, coffee and weak roasted malts. Taste is complex dark malts, inviting and moreish taste, delicious, oily mouthfeel, moderate bitter liquorice and tar.

From tap at Mi2 at Cardinal 11.12.17. Ebony. Fine brown head and lacing. Fine aroma and taste of roasted malt, vanilla, bitterness and pine. Also a hint of coconut. Solid bitterness.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2017 On tap at Gulating Pub, Stavanger. Pours black with dense light brown head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, notes of vanilla and liquorice, some umami, fruity and floral notes. Taste bitter from both hops and roasted malts, with quite some sweetness; however, not as sweet as one would expect considering the beer's name. Medium bodied, smooth mouth feel, alcoholic warmth, bitter finish. Nice autumn/winter beer.
