Bottled at TEJA tasting. Hazy copper colour, small head. Buttery nose with lots of diacetyle. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Oily and buttery. Low-medium bitterness.

Klare orangebraune Farbr, ordentliche leicht beige Schaumkrone. Geruch nach dunklem Malz, sehr würzig, floral hopfig. Geschmack würzig hopfig, leicht karamellig, dunkles Malz.

Il semble que l’hyper effervescence est un ennemi dans celle-là. Du pain grillé, des petits fruits confits et des noix de Grenoble s’enlisent dans la volatilité du corps.

On tap (0.5 l) at the brewpub in Oberndorf... Clear red-brown copper color, good head... Mild refreshing, sweet malt aroma of berries and grapes... Mild and easy to drink, perfect summer beer... Fruity ending...

My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts break into earthy angles as mild bitterness is emboldened by a fluffy mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is lots of foam lacing atop the hazy brown.
-Malts could be better developed for my tastes in Dunkel.
-The flavor profile is balanced.
-There are so many great Dunkels in Germany that this one felt forgettable to me.

--> Interessantes Bier. Sehr süffig-erfrischend, aber auch erstaunlich herb.

Bottle in Bavaria. Malty aroma. Hazy red/brown. Bittersett, malty. Some burned sugar. Rich, smooth, a nice little bite in the tail. Worth seeking out.

Brauerei Berghammer from Oberndorf has a Kupfer [copper] beer, which says it’s unfiltriert and naturtrüb [unfiltered] & [naturally cloudy]. It’s a dirty white, vanilla-colored head under a red-brown-orange beer, dark copper. Aroma is all malt, caramel, Münchner of course with a hint of bitterness behind it. The initial flavor is sweet and bitter simultaneously. It’s sweetness is a pure roasted barley maltiness around the back and front of the tongue, with a slight sourness added in the back, too. I get bitterness on the front and sides. It’s got the same not-too-thick, not-too-thin mouthfeel of the Winkler Kupfer. To tell the truth, I can’t distinguish the Winkler from the Berghammer Kupfer. This one is slightly bitterer and leaves a bitter, slightly sour aftertaste. Overall, a really good beer, and again, I wouldn’t travel to get it, or order a lot of it online, but if I were in the area, I’d love to try it fresh on tap.
