Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is smoked malt, grainy rye, smoked ham, caramel, with a touch of oak, fruit and lightly peat. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Beautifully balanced, the smoked rye is joined by subtle barrel notes adding more richness. Well done Berghoeve. minutemat (5942) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2017
330ml bottle while watching I, Daniel Blake. From trade with MonsterMagnet. Many thanks chap! Pours a hazed amber, good white head. Nice smoked ham in the aroma. Taste has a nice smoked character with a well-integrated soft, earthy nuttiness from the rye, some fruity marmalade hints. Can’t detect much Whisky influence at all, but still a nice smoked beer.
