JefVerstraete (3821) - Oosterzele, BELGIUM - FEB 3, 2018
Bottle @ home. Dark brown colour, creamy beige foam disappears quickly. Some metallic notes when opening the bottle, gets better when the beer warms a bit up. Roasted malts, light smoke, caramel. Light sweet, some bitter hoppy notes. Rather thin. Not a lot of barrel character.

Bottle 0.33l at home, Nivala. Received from Ratebeer swap (I think it was from MonsterMagnet). BBE 3/2017 ("old" but I don’t see that as a problem). Colour is deep and clear dark brown with very small brown head. Aromas and flavours: Dark chocolate, coffee, deep dryness, some alcohol, whiskey, wood, peat and roasted malts. Mouthfeel is pretty heavy, little bit of attacking. Condition is IMO very good. Whiskey barrel aged beers are not my favorites but this one has some good dry deep elements.

vami (589) - Poznan, POLAND - APR 30, 2017
[Euro Beer Swap, thanks to Monster Magnet] Creamy beige head, dark brown to black color. Aroma of whisky, very delicate smoke, liquor cherries in chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is coffee, then rasins, chocolate, some smoke, alcoholic finish. Decent imperial stout, but not enough barrel character.

Bottle from a trade with MonsterMagnet, many thanks! Black color with beige head that goes down quickly. Aroma is smoked, chalk, cherry, chocolate, coffee. Taste is ash, roasted malts, some wood, liquorice. Warming finish. Surprisingly fizzy carbonation. Not excellent.

33cl bottle at home. Very dark brown with a small off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Quite sweet with subtle smoky tones. Raisin, caramel, roasted malts, smoke and raisin. Too sweet.

Bottle 0,33 thanks to Slacker. Pours black with small beige head. Aroma of coffee, black berries, alcohol, roasted malts, vanilla. Taste is roasted malts, dried fruits, coffe, vanilla, perhaps buscuit, alcohol is noticable. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation.

langeveld12 (601) - NETHERLANDS - NOV 5, 2016
UPDATED: NOV 5, 2016 The whiskey is a fine addition to an already good stout but it is just a bit too strong. More balance would have made this an even better beer.

Chocolade bruine, bijna zwarte kleur met een kleine kraag. Ruikt vol peated, gerookt, vanille. Smaakt vol, chocolade, banaan, beetje peated vooral afdronk iets peated.

Bottle received in the local European swap, thanks to bierkoning. Shared with Bob. Black with a small light brown head. Chocolate, vanilla and booze in the nose. Flavour has alcohol, roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate. Full body, near flat carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and bitter. Light salty. Too hot.
