Bottle. Deep brown color with a decent, foamy light tan head. Aroma is a slightly sour mix of grain and hops. Tastes of sweet grains and hops bitterness with a little bit of malt in the finish. On the verge of medium bodied but with a watery mouthfeel that doesn’t work very well. Not a terrible beer but just doesn’t measure up to the really good ones.

Reddish amber colored body, faux-frothy light tan head. Aroma is stale grains, sweetened generic maibock-like hops. Sweet stale wheat crackers in the flavor and light German-esque brewpubby hops. Hidden caramel malt in there too. Okay beer, but it’s a still a Berghoff.

12oz bottle pours dark copper with a short offwhite head that fades to a ring quickly and leaves a little lace from there. Aromas of mostly malts. Caramel, light toffee, and some toasted notes. Flavor is malty as well lots of sweet caramel there, many toasty notes, light toffee, and some slight hop spice on the finish. Pretty highly carbonated.. Probably one of the better Berghoff brews actually.. and it was only 5.99 a 6 pack..

Draft in a shaker pint. Nice red color, thin head. Thinner malt smell with the usual Berghoff yeastiness (or iron in the water). Taste, though, is pretty nice for a Huber beer. Some toasty caramel malts and a definite German hop heritage. Goes down nicely but for a thin mouthfeel for a bock. And at $1.75 for a draft, a good deal. Is Huber improving under its new ownership?

Copper color with a small lid of beige bubbles. Very faint aromas of lightly toasted and caramel malt. Light sweet dark caramel, with a touch of roasted malt and vanilla. Very much a macro-bock. Quite spritzy in feel. Boring and a bit less than I had hoped.

Nice red color with a tan head that quickly recedes to an outer ring. Sweet malt with some fruit and grain in the aroma. Moderately sweet with a spicy hop finish. Body could have been a bit bigger. A nice beer with a confusing name - bock-ale?
