12 fl oz bottle. (Friar Tuck) Springfield, IL.shrubber85 (11706) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - SEP 6, 2013
Clear amber colour with an average sized foamy off-white head.
Quite mild aroma of malt, mild hops, fudge and nutty dryness.
The flavour is also quite mellow. Mild bitterness, some dry hops, caramel sweetness and nutty and woody dryness. Drinkable and rather balanced.
Bottle. Barley malt and hay aroma. Amber with moderate head. Sweet barley malt and mildly bitter herbal hops flavor. Drinkable. cubs (10740) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 16, 2014
Bottle @ home, shared with LeninCat. Thanks to Adam for sending. Pours a deep ruby orange appearance with a thin tan head. Burnt sugar / caramel, dark fruits / raisin / plum in the aroma. Full bodied, thick molasses feel. Syrupy / gooey caramel / toffee flavor. High sweetness. Low to moderate bitterness. Some cookie like notes along with a bit of spicy hops. Finishes pretty smoothly. Not super impressive but not bad. LeninCat ticks this 3/5. Patrickctenchi (6806) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - SEP 16, 2013
Nearly clear, amber/brown with a thick, off-white head.
Malt, caramel aroma.
Taste is sweet, bready caramel.
Rather bland and stale. Block (3222) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - FEB 21, 2015
Dark pour, off white head which quickly disappeared. Malty aroma and flavor. Caramel. Kind of a weird finish. A little off putting.

Draft at the Berghoff. So how is 6% considered a strong ale? Anyway, Dark malt color with a thin head. Smell is malty and a little sweet, like molasses cookie dough. Nice thick mouthfeel from those sweet malts. Tends toward a doppelbock in character. A bit of plum. Malts are just toasty in spite of the darker color. A mostly German hop character. Filling and warming without extra alcohol. Slightly fruity ale finish with some graininess. Niko100 (3012) - Chicago, New York, USA - DEC 7, 2013

[Bottle] Light brown colored pour with low carbonation. Sweet and sticky nose of brown sugar and toffee. Sweet bready taste is pretty one dimensional. Little bitterness. Body is slightly below normal. OK I guess. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JAN 15, 2014
12pz bottle pours light toedi brown with off white head. Aroma is malt and some caramel and spices. The flavor is about the same aromatic malt with some spices and some caramel. Not a bad winter beer but not a good one either. Overall just decent. zebra (2384) - Illinois, USA - FEB 19, 2014
