Decent BA stout, caramel, oak, bourbon, cocoa, coffee, roasted malts in this one.

22oz bottle. Dark brown with an off white head. Wood, bourbon, dark fruits, vanilla, and caramel. Tartness in the finish.

650 ml bottle from Ryan. Thanks. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a small tan head that recedes to a fine ring. The aroma is muddled with sour fruits and a bit of wet dog. The taste, like the aroma, is sour with sour cherries, sour dates, chocolates, vanilla and brown sugar. The palate is uneven and the carbonation is soft. Finishes medium in duration with a lingering cloying sweetness. Overall: Possibly infected, but in a sorta good way, this comes across as a better than average sour.

Bottle. Pours solid black with a red tint and a small off-white head. Aroma has lots of oak, vanilla, bourbon, roasted malt and booze. Flavour resembles the aroma, balanced with maple syrup sweetness. Many usual imp. stout qualities left with a boozy burn. Full-bodied, boozy and not much in the back.

22 oz. bottle, sent from gn0sis (thanks Eric), split amongst several of us, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is huge on barrels / wood and bourbon, with lots of vanila, oak and booze, and secondary notes of chocolate and roasted malt. Flavour is heavy on the bourbon and vanilla, with some slightly off sour notes and some maple syrup. Quite thin body actually with lower-than-average complexity for the style. That sourness hints that either there’s something wrong with the bottle, or, more likely (since I see it in other reviews), the barrels gave it this mildly unpleasant sour tinge. Either way, decent, but lacking in depth and body.

Pours a deep brownish black with a brown head. Aroma is sour cherries, roasted malts, chocolate, oak and bourbon. Flavor is sour cherries, oak, bourbon, chocolate. Not sure if the sourness is deliberate or not, but I actually really like this for an infected imperial stout. It has cuvee de tomme like qualities. Interesting.

10/11/11/12/12/12

Pours a solid black with a tan head that dissipates quickly leaving minimal lace on the glass. Smells of bourbon, vanilla and oak with some licorice, coffee and roast deep underneath. Taste follows the smell, very heavy on the bourbon and oak. Some licorice and roast peak through in the middle only to give way to an alcohol burn in the finish. Mouthfeel is creamy/oily. Body is medium, carbonation is low but appropriate. This one is good I enjoyed it, but its a bit hot and heavy on the bourbon end. I have 1 bottle left and will be curious to see how it ages.

corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 17, 2011
22oz bottle that opens with a loud hiss. That’s not a good sign. Pours pitch black and completely opaque without even the faintest tint of lighter color when held to a light and a one finger frothy beige head that immediately fades into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lacing left behind. Boozy aroma with lots of earthy oak and deep roasted malt. Hints of roasted coffee, oatmeal and chocolate underneath but the nose is dominated by the barrel character. Slightly sour and metallic smelling. Looks like this one might be infected. Yep, this one s overly oxidized and completely infected. Harsh tight carbonation and an awful sour metallic flavor with an abysmal aftertaste that lingers. want to scrape my tongue after taking a few sips. A complete mess and utterly undrinkable.

bottle shared at the Tally tasting, pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa, thin coffee and tart wild yeast. Flavor is sour cherries, light barrel, some oak and light booze. Different.
