4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a very dark clear brown with a large frothy tan head that was mostly lasting and had excellent lacing.
The aroma was quite thick of the scent of coffee with dark roasted malts and a chewy leathery yeast with notes of roasted coffee, molasses and dark chocolate.
The taste was sweetly bitter and had a nice malty presence with coffee overtones in the beginning and finished with a strong coffee flavor, yet still sweetly bitter but with hints of chocolate and molasses with a touch of caramel at the end.
Mouthfeel was full in body with the texture being smooth and creamy and an almost flat carbonation.
Overall a wonderfully tasting Porter. All of the components in this brew worked together very well giving you an extremely well balanced beer. A great representation of the style.
$5.75 bomber from Gag Jr's Liquor Shop in New Haven. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Nice aroma of coffee, sweet vanilla, cream. Flavor is smooth - very smooth in fact. Coffee, vanilla, cream. Not sweet. Very solid. Excellent purchase, especially for the price. TEJA (3199) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 3, 2017
Bottle @ omhper, thanks.
Thin grey head.
Coffee totally dominate the aroma.
Big coffee taste with a dry finish.
If I would want to drink a coffee, I order coffee, not beer. pharmerbill (5) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 26, 2017 does not count
Interesting brew with a good build up but it lacked living up to its extremely promising potential. It should have been much better than it actually was.

Black with a tall tan head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malts with some vanilla and light earth tones. Medium creamy body. Flavor follows the aroma with a higher amount of noticeable vanilla, but not annoyingly so- this is not a vanilla porter, thankfully. Good balance of sweetness with coffee. jrodooo5 (1703) - DOVER, Delaware, USA - JUN 30, 2017
A rather nice porter that isn’t over the top but doesn’t disappoint in any way either. Light coffee roast in both the aroma & throughout the taste. Has a pretty soft mouthfeel & overall is quite good!

Enjoyed on tap at Thirsty First in Lowell, MA while on a tour, unfortunately didn’t take tasting notes while I had this, but I remember this being very good, dry, and robust. Would have again. shawnmurphy (580) - Plattsburgh, New York, USA - MAY 3, 2017
On tap at Barley House in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Pours opaque black with lacing. Aroma and flavor: caramel, coffee, licorice. Mouthfeel: light-bodied, watery. Quick3Beers (1356) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 3, 2017
Pours a nice brown black from a tap, aroma of light roasted aciic coffee beans is kind of washed out a bit in the mouth, a bit of nuts or chicory or something adding a not unpleasant non-coffee bitterness. Good beer. tekstr1der (495) - New Hampshire, USA - DEC 25, 2016
Gifted to me luckily, and I’ve passed this by a hundred times. Dark brown pour with mocha head that fades. Aroma is excellent with both coffee and cocoa amid the roast. Flavor is similar and very well done. Just the right amount of coffee where others tend to overdo. Very smooth, never astringent, with creamy mouthfeel and not too thin for relatively low abv. Finishes fairly clean, leaving just a hint of bitter roast to wash away with the next sip. dlovell2 (2236) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - NOV 22, 2016
Pours black with a tan head. Roasted coffee and caramel aroma. Flavor is roasted malt with coffee, sweet caramel, and vanilla. Roasted malt finish.
