Served from a 22 oz bottle from an old trade. The appearance is a clear bodied dark amber with a small head. The aromas are nice with fruity esters, caramel, and vanilla. The flavors are very nice. A sweet berry flavor is pretty forward on the entry. A strawberry predominantly. Vanilla from the bourbon and caramel from the malts add some nice layers. Some sweet candied sugar as well. The mouth is a touch warm and alcohol thin. Full bodied. A well done fruity scotch ale.

Sweet chocolate and bourbon nose. Taste is very sweet, lightly bitter, lots of toffee and dark fruit, some chocolate and brown sugar.

Thanks to Pete for opening up a bottle of this at a tasting a while back. Reviewed from notes. Pours a dark shade of amber with a bit of an off white head that sits with a tiny ring of lace throughout. Nose brings good chunks of bourbon and caramel malt along with notes of oak, vanilla, and molasses. Taste mixes the bourbon and a level of molasses-like dry sweetness quite well with some of the barrel aging present in addition to the bourbon. Feel is nice and smooth with lower levels of carbonation. Drinks well and I glad I got to try this--I love being surprised by beers Ive never heard much about. Nice vanilla-bourbon aroma, malty as well. Deep amber-brown with off-white head. Nice malty beer with complementary vanilla, wood notes. Really a great beer.

Bottle shared at a recent BA/RB tasting... Poured a cloudy pale, amber with a beige head. Lots of booziness and very malt forward. A vegetable-root flavor and some bourbon forwardness that was really nice.

Review from notes, sampled 12/9/2007 Picked up a couple bottles at Julios Pours a deep dark ruby with a modest two finger off white head that dissipates quickly leaving some lace on the sides. The smell is all bourbon with a faint malt smell as it warms. Taste is a malty scotch ale with some fig and lots of bourbon. Mouthfeel is sweet and sticky. I love bourbon so I scored this one high. Its a great little sipping beer, very well done.

Cloudy brown pour with a foamy head. Aroma of bourbon, caramel, vanilla and wood. Flavor is sweet and follows right along with the aroma. A nice brew.

Bomber thanks to Arbitrator. Pours a brilliant yet dark clear amber color with a one-finger off-white head that leaves a ring. Sweet caramel and -bal aroma with a little peat smoke, toffee, bourbon, and toast. The flavor is great, really complex and tasty if a little sweet. Sweet caramel and toffee malt notes, toast, -bal, vanilla, maple syrup, bourbon, maybe some fruits. Great beer, lots to it. Smooth on the mouthfeel with only mild booziness and medium-low carbonation. Really great -bal aged scotch ale.

Big bourbon / American oak aromas: dill and vanilla. Flavor is surprisingly similar, medium sweet. Pretty good.

Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Poured clear muddy brown with a near brown head that dissipated rather quickly to the edge. Aroma had some bourbon notes with a bit of buttery scotch and sweet grains plus caramel. Flavor was similarly sweet with the caramel and scotch sticking out the most and a subtle backing bourbon note.
