COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A truly unique ale, River is a dark American wheat beer that is single-hopped with Willamette, accenting that variety's signature profile while letting the malts shine through. River Ale's slightly sweet flavor is accented with notes of nuttiness, fresh baked bread and a light spiciness of wheat. A brew that stands alone in the beer landscape.

A smooth wheat ale. The aroma is slightly winey but the taste is clean with a little sweet after taste.

Transfer from BA review on 8-6-12- Poured from bomber into pint glass Appearance – Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a two finger off white head. The head had great retention, but eventually faded to give a nice level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a sweet wheat smell. The wheat is of a bready nature with the sweet being of caramel and some dark fruits. Mixed with these aromas are some lighter notes of a roasted malt and a very light citrus nature. Overall quite nice. Taste – The taste begins sweet and roasty with a nice wheat flavor mixed within. The sweet at the front is of a caramel nature, but as the taste goes on some brown sugar and a very light citrus hop come to the tongue. As the taste advances further a subtle boozy flavor comes to the tongue. It overall creates a very nice slightly warming sweet bready aftertaste on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the medium to just above medium side with the carbonation level being on the average side. The body is very nice for the sweeter bready flavors and really allows the boozy flavors to warm the mouth. Overall – A great sweeter brew. Wonderful flavors and a great warming feel. Fantastic!!

Bottle. Pours orange amber with a thin off white head. Wheaty and lightly sweet malty base, some toffee, light nutty notes, and hints of toasted bread. Good stuff.

Fruity banana split and dirty caramel aroma Hazy copper color. Taste is darker, maybe dates and even vanilla. Hop is present more as a ringing palate presence than flavor. Otherwise an easy drinking beer. Definitely some wheat at play, probably could be classed as dunkelweizen on here.

Tap pours hazy medium brown with whiteish head. Near chocolatey grain aroma with some earthy tones. The taste is murky with some roasted chocolatey grain, funky mix of fruit and nutty earth. Underwhelming overall but drinkable.

On tap at Pittsfield Brew Works, 20 April 2010. Amber colour. Very sweet. Didn’t taste too clean. Not a lot else to say. Either something wrong here or this is one of Berkshire Brewing’s weaker efforts. I strongly suggest the former. Flagged for re-rate.
