Bottle bought at Ambrosetti in Berlin. Based on the score and multiple ’you can no longer get good Berliner Weisse in Berlin’ statements I thought this was going to be crap. Pour is hazy, thick straw yellow with a wispy foam on top. Nose is a little doughy with some definite lively tartness in back. Palate actually has a fair amount of body and is alive with astringency. Flavor is quite solid with some doughy maltiness up front followed by intense, lasting sourness. This is actually damn good. I’m no sour or Berliner Weisse aficionado but I think this has the style fairly well down, is intensely sour, and is excellent value (I think it was1.5 Euro). This will be a staple for me in Berlin. Who says you can’t get decent Berliner Weisse in Berlin?

Very pale, hazy beer with big, but quickly disappearing white head. In aroma mostly lactic acid with some basement aromas and notes similar to unripe blackberries and cheese. Very tart, notes of wheat in aftertaste. Same as in aroma - unripe berries are present. Astringent with nice amount of acidity. Highly carbonated. Not as watery as may be expected from so low ABV beer. Really nice for hot summer days. Would be much better with cleaner lactic acid taste.

Trasparent pale golden (hazy on second pour), loads of bubbles. Good and quite dense white head, ok retention and some lacing. Aroma is pretty intense but can be described quite easily as citric/juicy (lemon juice), maybe with a soapy hint. Taste is semi sweet with a wheat malts base (white bread). Intense acidity, both citric (with lemon notes) and lactic (yogurt). Sour citric aftertaste. Very light bodied with medium to high carbonation, goes down easy. Overall this is an ok, quite refreshing beer, but it definitely lacks complexity (it’s pretty much just lemonish sourness).

Best type of beer for the hot spring/summer days. Light, sour, only 3%, very refreshing.

I bought this bottle at one German shop, Porte Saint-Martin in Paris. I drank it at home after a really long day and tired. Personnaly, I found this beee not that bad, I prefer to put some Grenadine syrup. The color is an original yellow, creamy body. The carbonation is a bit sparkling, there is a good sourness, milky, a bit watery, there is a final note a bit tough, mineral. I personnaly prefer a German pils to be refresh.

From old tasting notes. Pale yellow color. Cloudy appearance. Strong yeasty nose with a sour apple bouquet. Taste is yeasty and tart. Best served with raspberry schnapps. Of it’s style, a classic. Defininately an acquired taste.
