Pours clear dark golden, with a thin head. Aroma of malts and hay. Taste of malts, hoppy bitternes, rather full bodied for a lager/pilsner. Bitter finish

This is a bottle of Bernard Svátecní Lezák/Celebration Lager from the Bernard Family Brewery in the Czech Republic. It comes in at 5.0% ABV and 34 IBUs. I rarely review this type of beer nowadays, so I thought I’d give it go! It pours a dark amber colored body with a big white head. The aroma is very heavy on the pilsner malts but with a subtle yeasty and hoppy character. It’s much more prominent than other pilsners - but I think that most Czech pilsners are in general. The taste is actually very nice. There’s a good malty sweetness at first with a solid hop presence in the aftertaste. It’s a powerful pilsner - you definitely don’t get bored with it like I tend to do when drinking this style of beer. So I’m pleasantly surprised by this one.

Bottle at the brewery. Golden with a big white head. Aroma of herbal and spicy hops, with a faint hint of sulphur. Full bodied, sweetish malty flavour with herbal hops and a quite bitter finish
