Bottle at Sander’s pace, NYC. Breakfast beer. Pours black with a small, rich beige head. Aroma is subtle roast and big milk chocolate. A good lacto presence here. Flavor REALLY doesn’t follow as I had expected. It is only faintly sweet, with a modest roastiness and mellow cocoa. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. The roasted malts in the finish are more pronounced, with notes of tobacco and ash, light burnt earth, and mild grassy bitterness. Easy to drink, just not very characterful. Aside from the aroma, this beer reminded me of a mild. j12601 (13301) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - MAR 6, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep dark black with a beautiful medium thick dense tan head that falls too quickly. Big dense roast, coffee, chocolate. Creamy, big roast and char, cocoa, coffee. Finishes with a big long roast bitterness. Nice flavorful session stout. jercraigs (11087) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2008
2008-06-11. Black body with a modest khaki head that fades. (3+) Very interesting aroma, very dry roast, extra dry cocoa, and a light touch of smoky burnt vegetations. Dry roasty flavour acquires a strong ashtray character to is as it goes on, dry roasty bitterness. I am really not digging this one. Average to thin palate. Not for me. My Bottom Line:blankboy (7884) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 26, 2008
Blackberries galore, molasses-like dextrins and roasted malt bitterness roam about in this healthy, approachable Stout.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the blackness.
-The lengthy finish is mostly roasty, but also full of hop leafiness, while a light trail of molasses comes back to remind us of its earlier presence.
-I appreciate the fact that this is not nitroed.
-The baccate fruitiness does provide some dry, tart angles.
On tap at the brewpub.
Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours black with a small diminishing creamy light-brown head. Very roasty aroma, also dry and earthy along with nicotine, light green hops, chocolate and coffee - I love it! Flavour’s also very roasty along with coffee, caramel and chocolate. Dry, roasty / bitter finish. Medium bodied. Wow, this is really good stuff and better then I expected it to be.

On tap at the brewpub, Barrington MA, on 20 April 2010. ABV not stated. OG 1051. Black, dry and roasty. Plenty of espresso coffee in the flavour profile. A decent, drinkable and quite tasty stout.

Draft sample at the source. The beer is a dark brown with a lhaki head of foam. The aroma has cinnamon chocolate, licorice, and roasty bitterness. Nice dark chocolate bitterness in the taste. Medium body and medium carbonation. HogTownHarry (7086) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - JUL 8, 2008
Bottle (22oz). Shared by me with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev - via trade with jjpm74. Opaque black pour with an average creamy tan head. Dry, dry heavy roast malt aroma, some molasses, definite coffee grounds, and old leather. The taste is also very dry, heavily roasted, with an almost tobacco-like thick carbonized character. Slick, slightly acidic mouthfeel, no carbonation to speak of, but a long oily solid dry roast finish. Nice beer - freakin’ AMAZING aroma to this. Cletus (6368) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 26, 2008
Growler, samples at the brewpub: Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, hints of nuts and molasses. Tastes of roasted malt, subtle bitterness, coffee, hints of chocolate. Enjoyable. DiarmaidBHK (6143) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 30, 2015
Sample at brewpub. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Solid roasted malt on the nose. This is listed as a sweet stout but I'm not getting much lactose. The roasted notes are pretty solid on the tongue. Finished clean.
