A bit spicy and hoppy. Very effervescent, lacking the malt characteristics typical of the style. A weird nose -- a bit doggy.

As authenic as it claims, unlike other Scottish ales I have tried

A disappointment to me, as I had heard mention that this was the greats. Turns out it is rather boring, and indistinguishable from the uncounted legions of amber ales produced in the U.S.

Okay, Iím rating this on the basis that its not a Scotish Ale. Tasty though.

B Gís flagship brand. Hardly a typical Scottish Ale due to the up front hops in both aroma and flavor. But in conjunction with the rich malts this is a flavorful brew. Attractive deep amber color with a long and smooth palate.

A decent beer. But I wouldnít recommend it if your in the mood for a scottish ale. Much too hoppy for the style. Not malty enough, and not strong enough. (Iím comparing this to McEwanís or Traquair House Ale.) At any rate, a big let down if youíre in the mood for a íbigí beer. But if you just want a decent little ale, this may be your beer.
