Bottled 18/06/14. A black beer with a little beige head. A sour fruity edge. A little light roast. Not getting chocolate or banana. The sourness isn’t right and the beer isn;t enjoyable. Fin (10917) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle picked up from Bachanalia, Cambridge, Sunday Tuesday 17th December 2013 consumed Sunday 22nd December 2013 Dark brown in colour with a plug of soft chocolate in the neck of the bottle (yum!) now this is interesting as I was told by the chap at Bachanalia that this beer had neither bananas or chocolate in it, it was purely brewing techniques which created such flavours, but certainly in this bottle was a plug of chocolate, we scooped a little out and ate it. Well as you might expect this is chocolatey and fruity with a nice bite, it isn’t that bananaey but there is a little bit of a nod to ut there. Really like this and seems to be a lot better in bottle than cask from the ratings below. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.6 jackl (8423) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 13, 2013
Cask at at the Holborn Whippet. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny head. The nose is chocolate cake, rice Krispy treat, powdered milk, some marshmallow fluff. The taste is moderately boozy hot chocolate. Hints of banana. Some over-ripe red fruits. Toasted coconut. A bit of plastic.medium body, soft. Overall, a bit all over the place. I’ve heard good things about this brewery, so perhaps their other stuff is better. Leighton (22304) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2013
Cask at the Holborn Whippet - London. Pours murky brown with a wimpy, creamy cap. Dusty cocoa in the nose, some bread, ripe bananas. Medium sweet flavor, light semi-dark malt tang, subtle metal notes, more dusty cocoa, some ripe fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Medium sweet finish, some semi-sweet chocolate, suggestions of mashed bananas, further metal, light earth. Really just does not come together, and there are a few off notes. A pity, as I was excited by the name.
