3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
First have to say that of all the places that have opened up in Ottawa over the last few years this is the one that I was the most excited about and judging from the line-up when they opened today at noon (not too mention pretty much selling what they optimistically thought was a week’s worth of beer in 2 days) I am not alone. Now that being said I didn’t necessarily think this would be the greatest beer ever but based on some interviews and discussions the brewers are passionate about beer and enjoy many of the same styles that us beer nerds do. Anyways...poured from a small growler (more places in Ontario need to do this). Dark amber with pretty much no head even with a swirl. A fair amount of caramel malt with a nice blend of resin and some citrus, bit of green apple and no hint of alcohol. Carbonation is very low so curious if maybe this suffered from being put into the growler, moderate body, initial bitterness that becomes astringent on the finish, dry, lots of resin and a very nice bitter taste at the every end. Like this, need to try it on tap or another growler to see if the carbonation appears as I think it would substantially improve things - that being said its worth trying for sure.
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2017 Can. Appearance: dark orange, almost clear. Thin brew retention. Smell: nice hops aromas with smooth, spicy malty notes. Taste: surprisingly juicy IIPA, citra aromatic, subtle piney, slightly spicy feel. The citra version is much juicier and perhaps has a dryer malt base, balanced with moderate bitterness, for an IIPA. Overall: above average American IIPA with great use of Rye. GlennHendry (465) - OSHAWA, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 6, 2016
Billed as malt-forward, but I tasted hops - grapefruit, orange and pine - and plenty of them right off the bat. Some spice as well. Powerful and delicious. LadySusan (766) - Ste-Therese, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 24, 2016
650 ml. bottle shared with Quevillon. The color is a hazy amber with a thin beige head. The aroma is of hops ,citrus fruits and alcohol. The taste is as above and the alcohol is very noticeable. It has that bitter taste of an I.P.A. with a bit of a sour finish. AleRider78 (1333) - Winchester, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 8, 2016
Purchased a mini growler at the microbrewery in Ottawa. Pours a deep amber colour with a thinly veiled bubbly head that goes away pretty quickly. Some mango and cirtusy aromas. Good blend of malts and hops. Huge bitter hoppy flavours, but immediately falls flat. A hint of grapefruit as well. Tarty mouthfeel. Weak lacing. Not too bad, but the flavours are deceiving at first. For a 9.1%abv, can’t really tell which is pretty nice. electrotype (655) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 12, 2016

TheJester (2542) - Cavan Monaghan, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 27, 2016
473 mL can. Diacetyl ruins this one. Based on the ratings, this must be a bad batch, but how this gets through quality control is beyond me. A shame . . . I was looking forward to this one. tom10101 (6143) - Quebec, CANADA - MAR 25, 2016
Can (473 ml) at home. From Alexandre, thanks! Hazy orangey-amber with a medium off-white head, good retention, leaving little lacing. Flavors of piney hops, tropical fruits, medium rye spiciness, caramel and mineral notes. Taste is sweet and moderately spicy with a medium bitterness level. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Rye spiciness finish. A decent Imperial IPA but the rye spiciness is too much and makes the beer unbalanced. Spab (3904) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 18, 2016
473 ml can from.brewery. Pours a cloudy deep golden colour with average-sized whiteish head. Aroma is sweet tropical fruitless, grains and some caramel. Flavour is sweet tropical fruit, caramel, grains and a little pine resin. Big body. Nice. CapFlu (5128) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 2, 2016
Pours a thin, white head atop a orange golden. Flavour is orange and off medicinal finish. Gross.
