Also thanks to cfrancis. Pours a dark black/brown with a thin brown head and little to no lace. Aroma is roasted malts, licorice, cocoa, wood, and bourbon. Flavour is roasted malts, cocoa, wood, bourbon, mild vanilla and a lightly dry acidic finish.

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours an opaque black with a frothy dark brown head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, wood, roasted malts and cocoa. Taste is a good balance of roasted malts, vanilla, bourbon, wood and some chocolate/bitter cocoa. An easy drinking stout complimented nicely and in balance with bourbon and vanilla notes.

Bottle shared by ametras, thanks! Black pour with thin moka foam. Aroma is really woody, tons of oak, roasty notes, red fruits. Taste is sour, roasted malt sourness, berries and tons of oak, acrid finish. Typical example of overaging IMO. Palate is med bodied, med carbonation. Meh.

Bottle, thanks Colin! Pitch black, huge frothy chocolaty head. Lots of wood, vanilla, and booze notes from aroma, but also significant roast from the base beer as well - encouraging. Silky mouthfeel - lots of bourbon in first sip but full body hols up well and keeps it reasonably balanced (bourbon does win a bit here though). This is not an easy thing to do - take a normal ABV stout and not let it get dominated after sitting a year in a barrel. But BTP has done it, because the vase beer is so damn good to begin with, packing in more flavour than most Imp Stouts. Nice job guys, this one is a winner.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a medium size brown color head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bourbon and vanilla notes are quite dominant with some light dry roasted malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a dry with some woody notes with bourbon and vanilla clearly identifiable. Body is about average with good carbonation. I enjoyed the fact that barrel-aging was prominent while keeping some balance with the based beer. Also, it does taste like an imperial stout even though it is clocking well below on the ABV.
