Split a 750ml bottle with some friends. Poured a really murky ruby-copper color with not much of a head to speak of. Aroma was some light oak notes, some sour bits. Flavor is some sour fruits, some wine character, earthy notes. Sour for the most part, alcohol is still pretty present here, even after 6 or so years, though it is really drinkable.
Barnyard, crabapple aromas. Appearance cloudy just like apple cider in color. Almost no head light carboinnation. tastes of barnyard and granny smith sour apples and yeast. Refreshing bier de garde. matjet (1) - - APR 19, 2015 does not count
Tasted the 2006 version on 4/18/15. This great beer still tastes remarkably fresh despite it’s age. It is holding up extremely well and aging very slowly. I found it sitting on the shelf in the store. Compared to the 2013 it is still very acidic with just a hint of increased malt in the background. Carbonation is light to moderate, unchanged compared to the 2013, just perfect for this beer. Aroma: Lovely balsamic vinegar blended with apple cider, vanilla, with a hint of leather, cherries and peaches in the background. No hint of hop bitterness. It has subtle but noticeable barnyard funk, hay and aged cheese along with the bread on dough. The taste parallels the aroma; it is incredibly complex and well balanced despite the high acidity. The mouth feel is delightfully velvety and viscous, but not syrupy. This beer tastes like a super concentrated, super complex great OUDE GEUZE. It is fascinating and absolutely delicious. It is built to age well for a long, long time. Be forewarned; This unusual beer will not appeal to everyone. I consider this an ’extreme on the edge beer’. If you don’t like complex sour beers with funk, this is not for you. Bottle pours a murky toilet brown with no chunks. Aroma is caramel, leather, basement, and tart cherries. Flavor is acidic tart. Tasty.

Bottle, shared with friends on game night. Murky orange amber, minimal head formation. Musty, yeasty aroma, light acetic sourness. Tasted on 10/7/14 with the Savages from a capped 750mL bottle sent to me as an awesome extra in a trade. Pours muddy brown orange with an average tan head that leaves thick lace. The nose is vinous, super sour, nice caramel malt, and super funky. The flavor is a bit maltier and oaky, with the sourness coming through a bit less vinous, but very balanced. 750ml bottle pours semi-clear ruby blood red with small finger of head. Nose is tart musty dark cherry, damp tree bark, molasses, brown sugar. Taste is tart sweet dark fruits, cherry, berries, red grape, musty wet wood. The body has a dark and murky appearance with a dark brownish burgundy color and some lighter reddish high lights. Near the edges of the glass there are some tine bubbles of carbonation. The head is a small, creamy off white layer of foam that slowly fades to just a small ring of tiny bubbles. Lacing is slick and minimal. Its aroma has nice tart fruit, funky earthy yeast notes with a hint of oak. The flavor starts with a semi-sweet malty base with a wonderfully complex mix of dry tart fruit, funky earthy east and wood. Some fruit notes that pop out are sour cherries, dry wine like grapes, and tart apple skins. All these flavors work in perfect harmony and its 11%abv is well hidden. It adds another layer of complexity and mellow warmth to the palate. It has a medium body with a silky light texture and soft carbonation.
